Hi guys,

I've had an B8 S5 for a couple months now and am making it my project car, I have an issue that I just want to confirm before I go ahead and purchase parts for because i enjoy the diy route. Whenever I turn left I get a sort of creaking/grinding sound and the traction control light comes on at a certain angle if, I'm going around a roundabout at a certain speed I lose power and have to pump my foot on the accelerator to gain control again... I'm assuming it could the control arms contributing to this issue? Since there is no traction on that wheel it flips out and activates the ESP system? but I want to make sure as the previous owner said he got those replaced, I'm also thinking it could be the spring as it makes a clicking noise when rotating the wheel getting out of a parking space... any thoughts before I take it to a mechanic to confirm issue?

Have you had it scanned for codes? I'd start with that and a thorough visual inspection of steering components and all electrical connectors. I'm thinking part of your issue could be an incorrectly routed electrical harness that gets pull just enough when turning to disconnect a pin, but not enough to fully disconnect. That would also have me looking at the pins in each connector and making sure they are fully seated.

Apologies for the late reply! (at the same time I'm moving house) I would have definitely done that first however I'm still in the process of setting up VCDS I still need to get a cable, I thought in the meantime I would use your wise minds as a database. I have jacked the car up and inspected the components on both sides they look to be okay however there is a huge amount of play horizontally on the left side in conjunction with the strut, I left a similar comment on FCP Euros YouTube channel and they said it is very likely my top mounts, which I also suspected. I will have another look at the connections although I feel like they would have came out completely by now and it still doesn't account for the poor handling and scary creaking for left corners 😦.
