After 3 months of living with a rattle that sounded like a Yugo on my A5 I have figured out what it is. Many posters have mentioned this or something similar that had been solved by having the speaker harness wrapped in foam by their dealers. My dealer spent two days trying to solve this for me and could come up with no solution, apparently the tech couldn't even locate its exact location. While driving on rough roads the drivers side kept rattling, after much frustration even trying to locate with a stethoscope I couldn't find the source. I have finally figured it out. Yesterday while driving on a rough road I kept pressing on different parts of the door and dash - when I pressed against the small rectangular panel on the dash that surrounds the circular light switch the rattle stopped. I have repeated this dozens of times and it always worked. Now when my A5 returns to the dealer for a new muffler I will have them address this.

Number2,
Yes bad baffles in I believe the center muffler, Blacky3.2 has the same issue. Audi says somehow the baffles inside have come apart, may be a design defect? hopefully just a bad batch though or replacing it will not help for long.
Bad rattle from muffler when revving in neutral.

I have exactly the same problem and it's really annoying.

Can you let me know whether they fix it and if they do could you find out if they had to replace any parts. Mine will be back at teh dealers in July so will ask them to sort it out then.

Thanks

Muffler rattle

Read about the problem some guys are having with the muffler rattling ..........I had the same problem at low speeds when taking delivery of my S5 ....it was found that it was not the muffler , but the two exhaust hangers in the middle that are faulty .
There is too much play between the rubbers and the hanger itself which is bolted to the body , causing the exhaust system to squeak and knock against the body .
When one knocks the muffler it sounds like the baffles are loose, but not so - take the two brackets off and the noise disappears .
This was cured for good by a resourceful tech cutting up an engine mounting , ramming it in between the hanger mounting rubbers and job done ....not a knock nor a squeak !!!
New hangers have arrived ex Germany , however the current mod works so well , I am not even bothering.
