It seems like it's been ages since I ordered my S5 back on Jan 10th, but it's finally here, and in less than 12 hours, I should be able to finally see the beast! Although due to cetain curcumstances, I won't be able to take her home for 1 to 2 weeks, I am still very excited to see her. Now I need to start buying some mods! I was going to get a clear bra, but since I will most likely lease it, I think it may be a waste of money. I am also considering to install a Passport Escort 9800ci, but I am not sure if I want to have the display, although small and thin, sticking on the dash. But I will be ordering some new pedals, S5 floormats, clear turn signals (if they make them), and a GMG exhaust (I just don't know if I should get the downpipes though). Driving her for the first 1k miles without going over 6k RPM is going to be tough, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end. Hopefully, I'll be able to take some pics of it next to the R8, LOL.

Damnit, I am so unlucky... My S5 has been delayed again! It's only due to a customs port hold (as if Audi is trying to smuggle cocaine or dirty bombs), which should be lifted today, but I would have approated my salesman telling me that, as he told me all week that it would be here on Monday, and I spent 3+ hours last night putting Reje-X on the R8 so I could take some pics of it next to the S5. Oh well, as I said previously, I had to wait a week or two before I could pick it up... I just hope this is the last delay and that the car will arrive in a week without any issues. My baby has eluded me for the last time!

It takes your dealer a week to pdi the car, or are there other things? And I would have died waiting this long for the car. Congratulations. On another note the 9500 is my life saver. I know everyone is V1!!!! but with the 9500 you can install the jammers like I did. If you dont want the little bar, then do the radar detector and the jammers separately... works the same but the radar is removable.

No, my co signer is on a vacation. Personally, I like the V1 more than the standard 9500i, but Valentine doesn't make any custom installed united with laser shifteds. So, it's between the 9500ci and the K40 Calibre, but the calibre costs more, got bad reviews, doesn't have a GPS feature, and doesn't come with laser shifters (with 3 shifters, the K40 costs twice as much as the 9500ci installed).

They are both great. Pros to the 9500 are that you can have shifters with it. The v1 and the 9500 are the same thing other than it shows the direction of which the radar is coming from... IMO why do you need to know where its coming from... If I here ka I slow down. Mike valentine started passport and then created valentine if im not mistaken. Sorry to thread jack!

You have to chose your words wisely, because there is a huge difference between a 9500 and 9500ci. Since you quoted me and mentioned "custom installed (which is what the "ci" stands for in 9500ci)," I am guessing you were asking about the 9500ci. If so, the 9500ci alone costs 1500 bucks, but if you get it at a place that is going to do the install, they usually can get a discount on the price of the unit, so it should come to around 1800 dollars installed for the 9500ci. The 9500, on the other hand, is just a standard radar detector that sits on your dash, and they only "custom install" you can do on it is to hard wire the power line into the dash so you don't have to use the cig lighter power cord, and that costs between 20 and 50 bucks.

Don't worry, you are not hijacking at all, just discussing something in regards to a question I made in my first post. You also forgot to mention that the 9500 has GPS, which is a nice feature because it knows where every speed trap, speed camera and red light camera is and warns you about them. It also can remember false positives, such that if the 9500 reads the same signal in the same location four different times, then it blocks it out so the detector will never go off when you pass it again. Really nice feature, IMO. ALL of the custom audio places around here are telling me to put in the K40 Calibre with laser, and not the 9500ci, but I still think I am going to go with the 9500ci.

No prob...

Yeah man, remember you, me and xxxkazxxx had that weird coincidence thing going on (we all live in the same general area, we all ordered the same car, we are all within a year or two of each others age, and all our moms drive MB S550s, lol).

I also have the K40 Calibre and it works excellent. I am sure if you want both front and back coverage it will cost around $2k for parts and installation. If you just want the front it will be around 1-1.3k.

My dealer gave me a nice discount on K40 Calibre with front and rear laser jammers at 1600 installed, and the dealer doesn't do the install, it's done by a local high end audio shop. The 9500ci would probably be in the same price range, so I dunno which to get, if I even get one, cuz they both have their benefits and disadvanteges.

Disadvantages? explain?
The disadvantage for the K40 is that it is pricy, and many reviews say it is not good at all. The K40 also does not have GPS, has no screen (which may be an advantage for some), and works via a remote that costs almost 300 dollars to replace (and probobly costs 30 bucks to make at most). The K40 only comes standard with rear and front radar, so each laser jammer has to be added at 350 bucks a pop (and the 9500ci has 3).

The disadvantage for the 9500ci is that many of the local install shops claim that it is not a good system. The 9500ci also does not work with bluetooth like the K40 does, so you have to drill a hole in the firewall to connect the laser jammers and the radar detector to the main unit. It has a screen (which may be an advantage to some) that you have to put someplace, and it also has a contol planel, which you also have to put someplace (in defence of them, they are both small and look nice). Also, although the 9500ci has 3 laser jammers and the K40 doesn't have any as standard, the 9500ci only has a front radar detector, and not a rear one, unlike the K40 which has front and rear, and buying a seperate rear radar detector for the 9500ci is not even an option.

Wait, now you have me confused. I bought my 9500ci with 2 shifters in the front and 1 in the rear.
