We've got the Bluetooth kit with privacy handset in our S5. We didn't spec the handset, the dealer selected the wrong option so we didn't pay the extra over the normal bluetooth option. However to get full functionality (of the handset in particular) it is necessary to connect your mobile to the car using SIM access profile rather than the usual handsfree profile.

We've both got K800i's which connect, but only via handsfree, so we don't get the SMS functionality and the handset can't be used, only the MMI.

Have any of you with S5's got the full bluetooth (not the GSM with bluetooth, which only uses the handsfree profile) kit, and if so have you managed to connect using the SIM Access Profile. Does anyone know which phones support the SIM access profile.

Also, when the K800i loads the phone book, the contacts are listed with the names swapped round (for example - Audi Customer Service is listed in the MMI as Customer Service Audi). It makes finding the entries very confusing. Has anyone else got this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as dealers are clueless!!!!

I've not come across any problems with mine, except the phone rang yesterday whilst I was parked up with the ignition off, and the buttons on the steering wheel didn't respond. By the time I had opened it up with the MMI button I missed the call.
Also a mate of mine has experienced the same problem you mention with the contacts being messed around in his 3-series. I'll ask him over the weekend if he's got it sorted yet.

SIM access profile

I have the SIM access profile enabled and it seems to work ok with my Sony Ericsson K750i. I notice that you have to manually import address book entries from the phone to the car which is a bit annoying, and also it doesn't seem to recognise address book entries that are stored in the memory of the phone handset itself, as opposed to stored on the SIM.

The voice recognition function works ok, albeit a bit gimicky, but the 'SMS' button on the MMI is always greyed out. My old TomTom SatNav could read & write SMSs to a phone over Bluetooth.

Andyo, from what you describe it doesn't work OK, but you've managed to fudge it!!!! The SMS is greyed out because you are not connecting via SIM access profile. I have had confirmation from Sony Ericson that none of their phones support the SIM access profile. They only connect using a hands free profile. that's why you are getting these issues.

The only phones that support SIM access are some BenQ Siemens and some Nokias. There is an official list of compatible phones on the Navplus.us site. I'll try to post a link if I get a chance.
