So, I've had my a5 3.0 tdi for a year now, has been faultless until recently.

When coming to a stop, and then accelerating again, the car stays in D2. For example, the lights are red, i'm slowing down, but then change green again, and off I go. So the car stays in D2, from 5mph and it kind of rides the clutch to pick up speed again, however when my car does this, i get a very subtle judder or shudder is the best way I can explain it. It only does it when it rides the clutch to pick up speed, once the speed is matched to the gear its fine. This is only on light throttle, if i give it more throttle the vibration dissapears. It's not violent but it does make the car shake a tiny bit.

Never does it in first gear on take offer, and shifts very smooth otherwise.

I've taken a look at the gear box Service history, and looks like the owner changed the oil at 54k! I got the car at 83k and changed the oil at 90k, so at 36k after the previous oil was done.

What could be causing the 2nd gear vibration?
I should also add that my car appears to have a failing DMF too, the audi specialist mentioned some chatter coming from the flywheel area of the car, but has said its not that bad at the moment - i get a 'pebble in washing machine type sound on idle'

Could the DMF be contributing towards the judder issue?

Thanks
Bill

Absolutely.......The B8 S4's with s-tronic I haved looked at at auction get clutch failures at about 200k kms. So for a gearbox out job do both
