S5 steering query!

513 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Dippy
Hi all, not long been here but looking for possible advice/suggestions.
On altering the drive select settings for steering it doesn’t seem to change at all, also noticed steering tightens slightly and makes a noise on full lock!
Any input would be appreciated thanks

Are you sure that your can has the dynamic steering option?
Quattro steering is indeed noisy on full lock, nothing to worry about but if you check your manual you should find a warning that it must not be held on full lock for too long.

Hi, thanks for reply.
It definitely has the dynamic option, wether it’s set at comfort, auto or dynamic it doesn’t seem to alter at all!
It’s never held on full lock but when I do use full lock it doesn’t sound or feel healthy at all
I wouldn't say that the change in steering is highly obvious but it should be noticeable, particularly the ratio. In comfort it is necessary to turn the steering wheel a bit more and it feels lighter, making parking a bit easier. In dynamic the car turns a bit more for smaller changes in the steering wheel and it does feel a little heavier.
Yes, I agree that Quattro on full lock does sound and feel unhealthy.
