Dave my S5 and the A5 are both black editions. And I have the factory spec manual here for 2013 A5.
Will check later as I am off to work

I looked at 50+ S5's on autotrader this morning from 2007 to 2015. Never seen 1 with metal strip on the valance.

Do you mean the aluminium bar across the OEM rear diffuser?

Yep Andy!
From what I have seen, the aluminium strip was only on pre-face lift models!?

Just trying to get an idea on when or why the strip wasn't fitted to all S5s, regardless of year. :)

Ade, how easy is it to get the diffuser off? Is it just the 3 screws underneath, then pull on the clips across the top?

There’s about 5 screws. Takes literally 5 mins - if it’s first time being removed, it takes a few wiggles and pulls. Don’t be too aggressive - it will come off

Don’t understand that?.... I’ve just looked on eBay and first 2 S5 2014 and a 2015 have the strip. It was on all S5’s as far as I’m aware - you must go to to specsavers mate! Haha

...on closer scrutinisation, perhaps the convertibles were aluminium? Seen 2 sport backs and it was like a Matt grey colour, to match the rest of diffuser... but the strip is still there, just not aluminium.

Ps: the strip is easy to remove from the diffuser too - about 5 screws

Dave email me you address and I will send you some glasses ,no charge?

Thanks Andy that's what I have been trying to say all S5 have the strip. Some look silver others look grey. The official colour from Audi is platinum and the part no fits both early (2007) to later(2015) S5"s. The difference is the valance size.
Dave valance has 3 torx screws on the bottom attached to spare tyre well, then 2 further screws,1 on each side above your back tailpipe that connect to the side of the bumper.
Like Andy says 5 minute job as you just release the clips and it's off.

Yep, all S5s have the strip, just in normal plastic matching the diffuser with a groove down the middle, but the pre-facelifts and V8s etc have an aluminium blade type strip. :)

Thanks, good to know it comes off easily. :)

So the postman delivered a big box today which is exciting. If the kids leave me alone for a while I'll try and fit it and post some pics. Your opinions (good or bad) will be more than welcome.

Yes Dave it's exactly like that only in gloss black as I didn't want to go down the carbon fibre route.
It looks really good in the hand just hope it fits and looks good on the car.
Self isolating in the garage for the afternoon sounds like a plan. (for safety's sake obviously) ?

Nice! Yeah, I like the carbon fibre stuff, but unless you go the whole hog and have other stuff, like front splitter, then it can look a bit out of place. Black is more neutral and fits with most colour schemes.

They do come off quite easy!
3 torx screws underneath that fix into the spare wheel well.
Small Philips screw in each side in line with the outboard tail pipe. Get at it through the tail pipe cut out. Stick your head under the tail pipes and look towards the side of the bumper. Prob need a torch as they are difficult to spot, especially if covered in muck.
I used a trim removal kit, but a big plastic spatula type tool will help ease the clips across the top of the diffuser. I wedged it on one corner between bumper and diffuser and pulled towards the back of the car. Once started, it gets easier. Used the big spatual trim tool along the join to press the diffuser clips downwards and pull.

Good luck.

Joe that will look great on your S5 mate. Looks very similar to the rear valance I had on my A4 DTM only that had twin exhaust pipes not quad like your S5
Post pictures up soon as please (y)

Looking good Joe! (y) :D

Like the way you have plastered the walls and fitted skirting boards in your garage!! :D
Did you ever sort out a lift?

Dave it does look good. The diffuser sits slightly further forward around the tailpipes making them more obvious which I like.
The garage is still in progress mate. Firstly paint then flooring then some wall art. I'm currently sorting out the other side which is workshop/motorbike garage.
Then I can start thinking about a lift although I'm 90 percent sure it's going to be quick jacks.

Oh yeah the main part of it looks like it sits 10mm or so further in. Suppose this gives it depth! This is lacking on the standard diffuser and is just too plain. I did consider just painting mine and maybe painting the lip strip in a different colour to make it stand out and give some depth or oomph, but as you know me, I like to fettle and DIY, so hopefully my improve custom diffuser turns out well! Some of the cheap ones from Poland or China can look a bit cheap and have small waves in the moldings on the flat parts, they're not smooth and straight. Making them look even more cheap.
