S5 Mileage

Have just looked up mileage figures and converted them both ways ( is US MPG the same as british MPG?)

In town, normal driving, I end up around 16.8 l/100 km, and when cruising along easy on a country road (driving 110 km/h or 68 mph), I get around 11.2 L/100...

This works out to 14 mpg in city, up to 21 mpg highway - in US MPG

Needless to say, driving 110 km/h in the S5 feels like the car is idling.....

What are your figures in your S5?

I only have 1200 miles on my car but I am getting about exactly the same as you. Filled up yesterday and with combo of small city and mostly highway driving I got 19.0 mpg
4000 miles and a consistent 18.4 mpg..I try not to think about it !!!
My early tanks were giving me 16.7 mpg. Although the last two have just gone through the 20 mpg mark. I rarely get about 40mph as its urban driving mostly so far. This includes the short runs in the morning to do school run which must really drink petrol.

It doesnt bother me as my last car was a Jaguar and the one before that was a V8 Discovery. So low mpg is norm for me.
After 2500 miles my average is now 19.7mpg (but that includes a fair amount of loud pedal abuse).
Well mine is showing 25mpg on the #2 trip but still running in, below 1000 mls.
I try to avoid any short town journeys as I know it drops like a stone.

Hi all
There is a small difference between US and UK gallons so the figures are not quite the same - but they are close.

A US gallon is about 0.833 UK gallons. To ocnvert the other way round, a UK gallon is 1.2 US gallons.

Its not a huge difference but I thought I'd mention it anyway

Cheers

Well I have just over 750 miles so far and i'm getting 19-21 mpg. on avg.
Not that bad I was getting 17-18 mpg in a V-6 M35X.
Do most of you find the mpg gets better with miles as mine seems to be getting worse at 800 mls? I put that down to the weather, longer to warm up and traffic, nothing but jams-must be the run up to Christmas.

I now have 1600 miles on the car and I think the mpg may be a bit better but not much. Most tanks are 70/30% highway(80mph freeway)/city driving. I have tried to be consistent with fuel used--Amoco Ultimate and with combined driving I am getting 19 mpg.

By the way, have found the adequate conversion figures....
In UK MPG, this works out to 16.8 - 25 mpg UK ( or 14-21 mpg US)
I'd be happy with 20 to 25 mpg if that was achieveable :)
I've put 3600 miles on my S5 in the first month and I've found that the mileage has improved over time.

On a recent 600 mile trip, with the cruise control set to 75, I got 22MPG (US) . This should be about 26MPG (UK)

I'm now averaging about 18 MPG with mixed driving
What did it do when you had a lower mileage?
The demo S5 I drove the other day was showing 16mpg - Euro gallons that is :)
s5 mpg

have done 3600 miles in 7 weeks and has averaged 21.4mpg. I think its getting better - but whatever, its great

Hard to tell, as I was breaking the engine in.. It was never over about 18 (US) mpg, averaging about 15.

Euro / UK or US gallons?
G
I have the least economical S5 in the world. 2000 Miles and an average of 12.2mpg

Maybe the way i drive :p

(my Ferrari is better than the S5 for mpg)
