I think you might be in a position to say to the dealer, before they take the car back, that if they fail to repair the car satisfactorily you will be exercising your 30 day right to reject for a full refund. I also think the 30 day clock stops for the time it's away and restarts when you get it back from repair.
It would be worth you taking the time to check exactly what your consumer rights are so you aren't put at a disadvantage by the dealer. See if you have legal cover in any of your insurance policies or contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline.
