The video on audiusa.com with Regis and Kelly says the S5 will be about $55k. Who knows what kind of options are on it? Another forum member says there is a red S5 in a dealer in NYC. Perhaps it is the same one. Someone should go there and take photos and ask which options are on it. This would give us a better idea of US pricing.

November can not come fast enough for US deliveries for me.

I think we will have the S5 base about 50k out the door in the 55-60 range. The RS5 will probably start in the low 70's and go out the door closer to 80k.

Performance wise the S5 should compete with the 335xi. The RS5 will be head on with the M3. From currently available paper specs and rumors the RS5 should beat the M3.

The salesman at a dealership here in Texas told me that their Rep told him they are only getting 1 S5 this year, with more to come in 2008.
Salesmen will tell you anything to get you to buy the car. Seeing as the S5 will be the first model released into the US. I am sure more than 1 per dealer will be available.

I guess I should have figured that myself considering one of my friends is a car salesman. In other words - I've heard stories.

I emailed him back - Told him that well if they are only getting one, it probaly will be a color that I do not like. Now he is going to get back with me cause he will be getting updated info.

Thanks for the "tip" ... I am going to call another dealership tomorrow.
Upon placing my deposit to order my car my dealer had a little bit more information.

They expect a demo S5 in July. They expect the first shipment to be "AUDI Build". Then customer orders.

Basically they expect the first shipment to be prespeced cars in a manner that the Audi factory wants. I will get a call to take what is there or wait till I can get the one I specify.

I would love to get a couple of dealerships working against each other on pricing but I do not think that is going to happen for a while at least.

You guys being in CA may have to pay a premium above MSRP for the car. It may be worth it to buy from a Midwestern dealer at MSRP and ship the car. I know with MINI this is the same case.

I have been in contact with 2 dealerships... Cavender Audi, San Antonio, TX and with Roger Beasley Audi, Austin, TX.

Even though I live in San Antonio I will probably purchase from Austin. The salesman I have been primarily dealing with in San Antonio is just throwing out information at me with really no factual standings behind it. For example, the first time I emailed the salesman on info for the new Audi, the response was "The new Audi S5 is going to be the hottest car on the street."

Wow!! That really makes me want to buy it.... but not from them.

I got in contact with the next closes dealership which is only about 60 miles away.

They take a deposit and it basically puts you in line. When the “Audi builds” come out they ask the first person if they want one, then the second and so on. If you dont choose one of the first "batches" you do not loose your place in line, you just get your place in line choice for the next batch.

Then if you want a custom order.... if I was not mistaken... they told me 10 to 12 weeks for delivery.

The conversation was based totally on the S5… no mention of the A5 coming out this year, but on Audi’s website they have both of them coming out Late fall 2007. --- Prior post ---

I hope this makes sense ... typed in a hurry.

That is 2 dealerships with this process, as it appears from wrx_xb9r’s post.

Hey wrx_xb9r … does the xb9r refer to the Buell XB9R??

I would talk/ email a different salesperson at the first dealership. It is amazing what happens when you get someone who cares.

I had this happen buying a truck. Salesperson A didn't want to deal, had no clue about the product, etc. I went to the sales manager said find me someone who knows how to work with a customer or I go elsewhere. 15 minutes later I was signing on the line.

XB9R is the Buell. I had the first one in town. White/ blue. Sold it a few years ago. The WRX is from the Subaru WRX. The first forum I went on had a bunch of people names as their vehicles so I followed suit. Now I just keep it from forum to forum.
