I have a 59 plate 3.0tdi Quattro Cab with low, 38k miles. I'd like to have a gearbox service done but am not sure which box i have fitted. My local spcialist (who has not yet seen the car) suspects a multi but the audi website has it as an S-tronic (DSG). It doesn't drive like our VW DSGs but does drive like our auto X5.

Is there an easy visual give-away to know which box i have?

7-speed S-tronic will have a drive shaft to the rear axle.
Multitronic will always be FWD, so no drive shaft.

Definitely not multitronic. Either tiptronic or S tronic.
Think all the tips were 6 speed so I strongly suspect it's S tronic.

Yep as said, multi-tronic is just front wheel drive. All 3.0tdis were Quattro until the face-lift B8.5 with the 204bhp 3.0tdi which was front wheel drive with Multi-tronic. I think the Multi-tronic is 8 speed as well!?

Visual check would be to look under the rear between the rear wheels for the rear diff. This is the Quattro. :)
