My car is a 2010 3.0tdi with the dual clutch S-tronic gearbox. On level ground, if I take my foot off the brake (not touching the accelerator) the car will creep forward on it's own.

I would expect this with a torque converter gearbox, but not with a dual clutch. Is this normal? Is the clutch dragging when it should be fully disengaged? I don't want to wear the clutch out prematurely. Thanks!

This is perfectly normal. All my S-Tronics have done this, and it is necessary to prevent roll-back in traffic and to assist low speed manoeuvring. Don’t worry about the clutch, it is a multi-plate wet clutch (bathed in transmission fluid), and is made to do this.

Yep, the DSG slips the clutch to creep forward. Apparently wear is more of a problem with dry clutches.

Yeah these dry clutches seem to have many problems eh?? Same with Ducati motorbikes, when we used them on track we had to replace clutch plates almost daily!!!
