Hi guys, im new to all this. but i hope someone can help. im hoping to pick up my new a5 3.0 tdi manual, in a few weeks. i have heard so many different things about running in a new engine, please could someone shed some light on how to do it properly.

Hi, and welcome.

Running in questions likely to get you a ton of conflicting advice!

My opinion is that these days not really necessary, though common sense says for the first few hundred miles be gentle with both engine and brakes, and gradually wind it up from there. After about 1K miles everything should be bedded in nicely, though some engines have shown tendency to use a bit of oil in first 5K miles or so after which this settles down too :thumbsup:
