It’s this time of year again to dust off the car cover and prepare the RS for hibernation.
I must say she is looking mint in the flesh and I’ve washed and polished the exterior, cleaned all wheel arches, polished and cleaned the aluminium brake discs and used iron out on all four alloys before drying and refitting. The car is not yet SORN but looking at the weather forecast till the end of the month persuaded me to put on her storage plates.
Regarding my storage tactic this year I’m going to do the same as last and periodically start and warm the engine as I feel that works really well for me rather than not starting it at all for the full six months of storage.
Looking back over 2021 it had its routine service and MOT, non-res downpipes fitted and an expensive oil cooler repair so it’s definitely had a “bit of money” spent on her (but not all necessary). The exhaust mod is just brilliant, it’s made such a positive difference and allows me to enjoy its V8 engine noise and downshift soooooooo much more.
The only outstanding jobs now is to clean interior, condition the leather and detail the engine bay.
