VAG used two versions of the rear lid handle with integrated back-up camera: a RCV-low version with component video output (5N0827566AD w/blue FAKRA HSD connector):

and a high version with composite video output (5N0827566A w/ grey FAKRA video connector):

The low version is used to supply component video directly to VW radios prior to MIB. The high version, used mostly in Audi models and VW Touaregs, requires the backup camera control module J772 (8T0907441C):
Code:
Address 6C: Back-up Cam. Labels: 8T0-907-441.clb
   Part No SW: 8T0 907 441 C HW: 4L0 907 441 B
   Component: J772__Rearview 0040
   Revision: --H08--- Serial number: 525PA8-J3893JT
   Coding: 1000006
...
The processed video signal from J772, which includes the so-called steering lines, is sent to the MMI3G main unit J794 on pin T12x/11. --g

@dativus -- MMI3G systems require the high version of the RVC. The J772 module is fitted behind the right rear trim panel in the boot/trunk:

Note the two video cables: the grey is input from the camera in the rear lid hand, the green is output to the MMI3G main unit J794.

As best I can tell, the RVC-low rear lid handle was used only in VW models with radio/nav units that accept composite video input, e.g., RCD-510, RNS-315, and RNS-510 (I retrofitted this in our '11 Golf Variant wagon TDI a few years ago). --g

@dativus -- What @JohnS4 wrote: unless a component is superceeded with a later part number, you should always retrofit with the original part number fitted to the car from production. You can find retrofit kits at Aliexpress, for example: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800766850885.html
Or the wiring harness pieces, only: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800166886534.html
Search "Audi A4 RVC".
I've used wiring harness pieces from Aliexpress vendors for several VAG retrofit projects and have had no problems with fit or function. --g

BTW -- I wonder how much trouble it is to import a European TDI to the US? We like our '11 VW Golf Variant (wagon) TDI 6MT, but I'd much rather have the B8.5 A4Q Avant with TDI & 6MT (which, of course, does not exist in the US market). --g

Our NAR '14 A4Q 6MT sedan had PR-7T6 Navigation system (MID) and PR-7X7 Park distance control in rear with rear view camera system; the MMI3GP screenshot captured this with reverse gear selected:

The processed video from J772 was overlayed on the output signal from J794 to the display unit, so it wasn't captured in the screenshot. But I would expect that you should see the other elements of the RVC screen with RVC configured in the MMI and reverse gear selected; alas, I don't have a screenshot of the RVC "Settings" screen in my MMI3GP screenshot PNG collection.

BTW, use a CODE block to preserve the white-space of our VCDS log output pasted into a forum post. --g

Looking through my collection of screenshots going back to 2018, I found these settings for the "Parking aid" function:

I suspect "Display" set to "On" gives us the RVC screen, above, when reverse gear is selected (and the ignition is ON). --g

@dativus -- You should consider adding a new Terminal 30 circuit to ST5 (top fuse panel shown in post #5), position 6 to power the backup cam control module J772 with a 5A fuse:

Also, confirm coding in the MMI main unit J794, Address 5F, Byte 7, bits 0 & 1 set: MMI 3G+ J794 Coding and Adaptations --g

GEM settings for our PR-7X7:

Nothing related to PDC or RVC in cardevicelist_2, carextdevicelist, carmenuoperation that I can find. --g

@dativus -- My guess is that "03157 - Functionality limited due to Communications Disruption" is due to Address 6C; the other DTCs are easy enough to clear later. I would expect the RVC video to appear overlayed on the screen to the right of the park sensors display. --g
