I was wondering, does the keys of the A5 (not advanced key) charge itself when you start the car? Or does it need regular watch batteries? I noticed the A4 requires one to change the batteries often.

No, there is no charging of the key's battery when it's in the ignition. You'll still have to chenge the battery every so often.
