Rear sway bar

Hi, currently looking at fitting a rear sway bar to my A5 3.0tdi.
I'm looking at the hardrace and 034 bars, hardrace it seems is hollow whereas 034 is solid.
Can anyone reccomend which rear sway bar is best.

Thanks

Hello,

Is your car a Quattro?

If so, rear ARBs is brilliant upgrade.

would you not consider H&R as their rear sway bars are thick

Hi,

Yes my car is a quattro.
Is the hardrace and 034 not thicker than the h&r?
I thought from memory H&R was 30mm but looking back It was the fronts! The rears are slightly smaller at 25 so the hardrace and 034 are deffo a teeny bit bigger.

The difference from hollow and solid is the weight of the bar for a given stiffness. But the downside is it is easier to break compared to a solid ARB.

The weight saving is honestly negligible for everyday use and unless you’ve got a track car and trying to save every gram then it does make sense.

Would you say the solid bar would work better than a hollow one
I only ever upgraded to the H&R solid ARB so can say they definitely made a difference with handling and keeping the wheels more planted, you do sacrifice some comfort but definitely worth it when going around corners or roundabouts 👍🏻🤪

Nut and bolt would suffice to be honest, if you get the nylon self locking nuts then they’ll never undo even with all the vibrations.
