Probably a novice question, but can't work out a clear answer from online searching

Have 2010 A5 SE with 17inch wheels. Want to buy 18" inch oem wheels that come from a S-Line A5. One has 28 offset, other has 29 offset. Will it just be straight swap or will I need to adjust with spacers or will it not work?

Wheel details for info
Current: 225/50/17 7.5 wheel width 28 offset
New wheels: 245/40/18 8.5 wheel width 29 offset
Both have same bolt patterns 5 x 112

Hi, according to a tyre size comparison website , the following answer came up:

OLD SETUP NEW SETUP

Diameter Diameter
656.8mm 653.2mm
Circumference Circumference
2063.4mm 2052.1mm
Poke Poke
67.3mm 79mm
Inset Inset
123.3mm 137mm
Speedo error Speedo error

Reading at 30mph Reading at 30mph
30mph 30.17mph
Reading at 60mph Reading at 60mph
60mph 60.33mph
Ride height gain Ride height gain
0mm -1.8mm
Arch gap loss Arch gap loss
0mm -1.8mm

Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 13.7mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 11.7mm more than before.

Hopefully this helps you(y)

Thanks, that partly helps. Ok with the speedo difference but will the 13.7mm inner clearance loss cause any issues and the extra rim poke be a visual problem? Anybody know?

Try This website. The new tyre/wheel package will be 11mm closer to suspension and 9mm further out, which is acceptable for most cars.

(y) Hoped that would be the case, thanks for confirming.

Does same apply for 19" wheels that came off an S-Line? If S-line and standard A5 have the same wheel arch, and positioning of wheel attachment and brakes then I guess should fit fine.

Only -0.65% speed variance, but with an offset off 33 these have 24mm less inner clearance and extend an extra 14mm

Seems a lot cheaper and hopefully easier (if can do just an exact swap) than buying separate aftermarket wheels and then tyres.
