Placed my order - delivery in November!

Ordered my A5 3.0TDi Quattro Sports on 11th August. Spec as follows; Phantom Black, Black Leather, 8.5J x 19 '5-spoke Y' design alloy wheels, Bang & Olufsen, DAB Radio, Bluetooth Phone, DVD SatNav System Plus, Heated Seats, Internal Light Pack, Hill Hold, Cruise, Comfort Pack and Audi Parking System Plus. Have been quoted November delivery. No discount, but Audi Dealer did give me a little more for the BMW than it was worth.

Dealership had near identical one in showroom for immediate delivery, but was Ice Silver and was missing DAB, Hill Hold (ugly blanking panel!), Cruise and Front Sensors. Garage offered to retrofit Cruise (at brochure price), but am going to wait, as I've had 4 silver cars in the past, and really like the look of the Phantom Black paint.

Just sold my BMW330i M Sports (hated the run flat tyres and rough ride), so have had my bicycle serviced and am using wife's car (BMW 120d) in the interim!

Looking forward to getting new car. Think Walter De Silva's design is very elegant indeed. The nicest looking car I had before this was the Pininfarina designed Peugeot 406 Coupe. Certainly much nicer looking than the Hyundai-lookalike BMW Coupe. Test drove both the 335d and the A5 3.0 TDi - Audi gives a much better ride (even on sports and 19" wheels). The 335d did have more 'oomph', but in real everyday driving, the Audi wins overall (looks, 4x4, etc.).

Looking forward to joining the Audi owners group here..............

Update from dealer....

For some reason my car has slipped into an earlier week build than expected. It's due off the production line by the end of this week, and should be with dealer within 2 weeks from then. If true (and I see elsewhere on this forum that not all such dealer predictions prove true!), then Yipee!

Mine is still down as week 47 (middle Nov). Although I should be getting an update this week.

I was originally quoted week 41, and I saw that on the dealer's link to the AUDI system. Then they told it had come forward to week 38 (again confirmed by the online link) which is this week, but then they told me verbally that the factory was 3 weeks behind schedule which brings us back to week 41......

(Its a 2.7TDI multitronic).

Ordered my 3.0TDI in phantom black with 19" Y design wheels, sport pack plus a few other bits on Tuesday 18th Sep - Getting it 9th November! Great news.
Having a Tunit unit fitted at end of November to get it to 280bhp 560 nm torque. Who needs an S5.

it'll certainly run well, but still sound like a tractor ( but burn less fuel than an S5 though)

I drove the 3.0TDI A5 yesterday, and its definetly one of the most refined and fastest diesels i've every driven. And with the upgrade it should be amazing - i've no doubt u will really enjoy it, but I personally just get a massive buzz from the sound that the S5 makes and the way it accelerates not to mention how well it handles.

I will also have my S5 tuned and add a Milltek exhaust to it probably by the middle on next year once I put a few miles on the clock - Im hoping this comb will add about 25bhp and 25lb/ft (33nm) of torque like on the S4. If milltek create a sports cat for the car I will also add that and hopefully squeeze another 10bhp out of it.

Post a report up of the tuning when you get it done

That seems too quick. Have you had the build week confirmed yet?

Confirmed as 9th Nov at my dealer in Leicester.
For anyone who is interested Tunit are based in Leamington Spa and they charge £389 +VAT for the unit and £45 for fitting.

Car built and on the way to Daddy!

Great news from dealer today. Car built and now on ship heading for blighty. Have booked collection for 18th October. Counting down the days. Yes, I will post photos when I get it.

Have phoned my insurance company to get cover note posted early, especially as the postal strike may extend!

George, that seems consitent with the other UK posters who ordered at a similar time to you. I dont get much info from my dealer but was told it was built last week (and on for before End of October delivery). ChrisH was in that batch as well and it looks like yours was.

A lot better than the November dates we were initially given.

Great news DD - bet you're looking forward to getting yours, especially as you were promised Nov delivery as well - maybe Audi have sorted out their issues with seats and 19" wheels?

Guessing that the car comes off the boat and goes to an Audi checking centre somewhere in UK before being dispatched to dealers (hence the weeks delay from shipping to dealer)? Presumably cars are shipped with paper bonnet and wing protectors which are removed at dealers as well (any Audi I've seen on a car transporter is peppered with protective white packaging all over the paintwork).

Exciting isn't it?

George, you will not be disappointed with the performance. Had mine 4 weeks, following a Touareg and 330d BMW and to be honest you can't use the full torque around town for fear of running into the car in front due to the seemless pick up.

Thanks 418 - absolutely looking forward to it. Excitement heightened by fact that I've been without a car for the last 2 months (had to sell my 18 month old BMW 330i as it was depreciating so rapidly!).

It comes into Sheerness usually so not far from you. If its on the boat now they will have to get it booked onto a transporter and do some paperwork so it will be at the dealership end of next week or so.

Know the feeling I've been without a car since 13th August-quite depressing really when the weekends roll around with no wheels.
