My A5 has just got the basic parking sensors. ie. the ones that just beep at you, no visual images etc etc.

I know for a fact, that the visual image can be activated via VAG COM on the A6 & A8 MMI cars. But when interrogated, the option does not appear in the same place on VAG COM on the A5, and it isn't obvious where it is.

Has anyone out there managed to successfully do this??

Does your car have the camera mounted on the rear?

No it doesn't..... :(

I'm talking about where the picture of the car appears on the MMI and the zones are highlighted around the car.

It's something that can be enabled if you know where to look.

I had someone do work for me the other day, and he know his way around VAG COM for the A6 & A8 and he's done this many times on those cars. However the A5 has a slightly different VAG COM setup, hene the question.

Yeah, this is possibly possible...

On the A6/A8 it has to do with what version of parking sensor module/MMI you have:

4F0 910 283 A - 4 sensors, no graphical support
4F0 910 283 B - ?
4F0 910 283 C - 8 sensors, graphical support
4F0 910 283 D - 4 sensors, graphical support
4F0 910 283 E - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
4F0 910 283 F - 4 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
4F0 910 283 G - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
4F0 910 283 H - 8 sensors, graphical support, rear view camera support
Since A5 probably has a late version module with graphical support, it might be possible it could be enabled with VAG COM. Some A6s do have, like the original poster said, the module with this support, but the visual screen not enabled and VAG COM trickery has worked there.

(If not: Another option would be to swap the parking module to an 8 channel one, do the coding and add resistor cables to the front channels so the car thinks they are there idle. Of course one could also go for the full retrofit with front sensors, e.g. from Kufatec.de for the kit...)

I think the parking module is inside the right-side trunk side-trim "door".
