Hi all,

I just received my new S5 (see pic in other thread) and enjoy it very much.

One question is: where can I find the on-board Manual CD? In the MMI it is possible to select "wagendoc", this means the on-board manual. Anybody knows?

thanks!

You should have received a CD in the folder with your manual & service book. That's where mine was.

Just be aware that it is a slow process working through the manual on CD - you will be far quicker using the conventional paper one.

As a bonus you can copy the content of that CD to your home computer so you have the manual handy when you, for example, are about to ask something silly from A5OC.com... :)

ok, thx! I will ask my dealer for it, because it is not there;

anybody know the lates firmware versions? i read 5170 somewhere, but it does not seem in line with what I see on the Settings/Version screen:
SW: B8-HU 32.5.0.0647

My maps are from: EU_10500_2374 (I think this is the latest, Navteq 2008 EU)

But there are many more versions/codes named, but don't see the "main" MMI sw that has to be upgraded to 5170 (or 5140, 5150, etc). Or does the number above means I have now 0647?

I think (from memory as I would need to go and look at my car) that your version is 3250 - how long have you had your car?

I've had mine since January (and it was built in October 2007) and my version was 4690. I have the update CD to 5170 which as far as I am aware, is the only update that is applicable to the A5 & S5.

I have applied the update to my car and although I have not done any extensive testing, I cannot see any visual differences. Obviously there are differences but they appear to be behind the scenes.

This is a list of updated version numbers for the various modules after updating to 5170. The previous version is in brackets at the end of each line.

A4(B/A5 MMI UPDATES CONFIGURATION 8T0 906 961 (this is the CD part number)

CONTROL UNIT 8T0 035 729 N/P = SW 5170 (was 4690)

MP3/CD 8T1 035 110 C = SW 390 (380)

RADIO 4E0 910 541 Q = SW 620 (620)

STANDARD AMP 8T0 035 223 P/Q = SW 250 0R 290 (not fitted)

B&O 8T0 035 223 F = SW 0390 (280)

PHONE PREP 4E0 910 336 K = SW 0950 (0950)

BLUETOOTH 4F1 910 336 C = SW 0960 (960)

AMI 4E0 035 785 B = SW 0700 (not fitted :()

HYBRID TUNER 4E0 910 148 D = SW 0440 (not fitted)

DAB 4E0 910 563 C = SW 0830 (not fitted)

SDS 4E0 910 754 R = SW 0630 (not fitted)

The CD updated 3 of my modules (Control Unit, MP3/CD & B&O).

Thx for your reply.

How can you see al this sw version numbers (without VAGCOM)? Is there a "secret menu" or something, like there was in my RNS-E/S4?

Thx, I did, but I only see 4 rows with version numbers:

FC SW
FC HW

not this whole list with all modules....?

OK, sorry, I thought you meant the main version screen.

To get to the 'secret menu', press and hold together the SETUP and RETURN buttons for a few seconds. The 'secret menu' should then appear and you can select the various modules etc. You may need the ignition off (in ACC position) to get the menu - I'm not too sure.

BTW: Does anyone know if the Concert/Symphony radios come with onboard CD manuals? I would guess not, as this is a feature of the real MMI, but maybe they have a similar feature?

The onboard manuals in Audi MMI cars are actually just HTML documents like webpages, the onboard manual is sort of a web browser in the car. You can browse those documents on your home computer as well, which is cool.
