Hey, everyone.
I recently bought a 2013 Audi A5 2.0L and it came to my awareness that it’s leaking oil, as soon as I drove it off from buying it it said no oil.
I hada few people checked it out. Apparently it’s leaking from the timing chain cover, as there was silicone and the oil is going through it. Also, the lower timing chain tensioner is leaking.
all my oil leaked within a week. I filled it back up about 3 days ago and it still says max oil.
One of my questions is, would the whole front of the engine have to be removed to work on this?
secondly, the person I bought it off from said he got an oil change back in February of this year. It’s been 6 months since then. Could this leak have happened over time or suddenly? It seems weird to me he wouldn’t notice it’s leaking oil.
thirdly, he got the timing chain replaced in January of this year. Could that have been a job done bad from the cover leak?
thanks in advance.
I’ve never owned a Audi btw
