Wonder if this has anything to do with the clutch issue rumor.

Not sure what to say, I have about 4,000 miles on mine and can't say I have noticed any problems.
Well does the clutch travel feel completely smooth or does it have a notches?
Probably normal

There should be a switch that has to be actuated to allow the car to be started while in gear. This adds an uneven feel to clutch depression. It is present to some extent on all manual cars. I hope I'm correct on this one.
I wish you were. This is at the top end of the clutch travel
me too

hey man, i just took my beast out for a quick spin and when i was parking in the garage i felt the "notchyness". Hopefully it will stop. Hows yours?
i have done 2000 miles in mine.. s5... the clutch is of concern,i have a judder at the top when depressing the clutch when going through the gears, also sometimes i accidently set off in second and that results in some slipping finally if i give the car a 5 minute proper blast the clutch stinks... i also know of an s5 which has been bought and is hired out between associates.... app. they burnt the clutch out although they complained and got one fitted foc...clutches are not cheap on quttro cars ,i had an a4 ,3.0 quattro sport before this, the clutch went on that and it cost a £1000 to replace.... good news all round eh...
Well guys this morning it is 45 degrees here in South FLA and no notchyness. I guess this is what happens when you get the first of something brand new. Hopefully this will go away. I will call my service dept and ask if they have heard of this.
Well I got back from the dealer. The service manager said this is completely normal on S4 RS4 and S5. He said it has to do with the fact that the clutch is both hydralic and mechanical,he did say it will smooth out though. He says it only happens when the car gets warm which confirms what I have been feeling. He did go out and step on my clutch to confirm.
Thanks for the update. Hope it wears in for you.
White, thanks for the update. That's a comprehensive description and this should allay the fears of any other members of this forum who experience this. very useful. Ian.
Is it the clutch or is it the pedal? I had an annoying noise when moving the pedal - it was a badly fitting carpet catching on a notch on the bottom of the pedal. Easily sorted.
nah this is at the top end of the clutch travel
