Hi everyone,

As a new member and a new/first time Audi owner, I just wanted to share my excitement with all you guys. I just received my S5 Sportback order after a long wait of 5 months. Its Deep Sea Blue with Mustang Brown/Black interior and Carbon inlays. I gave a long thought to this color combo but came out great. It definitely makes the car look more premium. I have all the options checked including the sports differential...except the sat nav and TV because it does not work in my country and costs me around 7.5K euros with the taxes in my country. Plus I have got an iPad for all those functions:) I will pick the car up tomorrow and hope will be satisfied with the engine. Please let me know your opinions about the color combo and the ridiculous delivery time.

Consumption figures and some impressions

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the good reviews. I have owned my car for almost 2 months now and would like to share some opinions and consumption figures.

First of all, the looks of the car is truely amazing and I get many good feedback about my color combo. The car really stands out from the crowd in traffic. I love the fact that at first glance its not a flashy car, but when you observe the details of the "S" brand, you appreciate it much more. Its definately one of the most sleek and handsome sports cars I have ever seen or driven.

In terms of the engine, I don't wanna get into too much details but, the whole package with the supercharged engine, sports exhaust and the stronic transmission is just amazing. The most fun driving for me was on long high speed corners. I love how forgiving the car is and it delivers very smoothly. The transmission shifts very fast and smooth. Of course the throttle response, stronic shifting and taking corners need a little getting used to but, the time it takes to get used to is minimal compared to for example a BMW M3 or a Carrera. The comfort mode makes the car very comfortable for long or tired driving. Whereas the dynamic mode stiffens the car quite as expected. When I test drove the R8 V10 on a track day, I was complaining that the car is too comfortable for a sports car in that range. But now after driving my S5 I understand Audi's philosophy and appreciate the R8 even more. After all you don't need to feel how fast you are going through exhaust and wind noise or feel the aggressiveness of an upshift. Audi can achieve those and make it look like its easy...and that's class in my opinion.

I believe that the quattro technology adds a great advantage to this car. It is very hard to get the traction control kick in even on wet surfaces. Considering all the 2 wheel drive cars like BMW Ms, Carreras or even Ferraris will have to deal with traction kicking in during real life driving, S5 gives you a confidence that you will beat those cars or at least stay on their tail if you were to race. Its just a feeling I got and I believe speeding and cornering on real roads are much different than track road tests or 0-100km stats.

For the technological stuff like the AMI, Bang Olufsen and keyless go, all work great without any problems.

Finally, here are my consumption figures after 2352kms: Average fuel 14.8lt/100km and average speed 38km/h. I don't get too much trafic where I live and drive a mixture of city driving and highway speeds of around 150km/h.

By the way, the best figure I got was last night's 18 minute driving home (12.4km) with average fuel of 11.8lt/100km, average speed of 39km/h. Finally, with a full tank I get a range of 480kms.

Overall, I'm very happy with my car in terms of engine, sportiness, comfort, design and technology. I would be happy to answer specific questions and picture gallery will be added this evening.
