Hello folks,

Been lurking here for a while enjoying the musings of the hugely knowlegable regulars and thought now that now was a good time for my first post as I've just become an S5 owner - picked her up on Friday evening and oh my goodness it is just a magnificent car

Haven't taken any photos yet (and those in the UK will know it was raining all weekend) but the spec is something like this: Phantom black, black seats, stainless inlay / piano black trim, advanced key, B&O stereo, CD, Sat Nav, hill hold, adaptive lights, phone, heated seats and a few other things I've lost track of. While rubbish weather and the traffic of West London has meant I haven't had a chance for a decent drive yet even the short blurts around the back streets here have been incredible fun. And that engine sounds fabulous - can only imagine how much better it is with the Miltek system (will definately get around to that soon!).

So I've used the search facility to find out about VAG cables, DRLs at full brightness all the time and other such things I need to get done. So I wanted to ask a couple of questions for the locals if I may:

1. Is there anywhere or anyone in the London area who can help me with getting the DRLs modified to be at full brightness with lights / indicators on? Shame I missed the Norfolk meet on Saturday (didn't know it was on!) so just wondered if there was anywhere I could go to in the London area with a VAG cable / software who could help me with this?

2. Does anyone know if the AMI can be dealer fitted or is a factory fit only? It is the one option my car doesn't have that I would like so wanted to know if I can get it retro-fitted?

3. Anyone recommend a good detailer in the West London area? There are a few swirl marks on the paint that I would like to see if they can be fixed by a specialist.

Sorry that is a lot of questions for a first post! Suffice to say I am really pleased with the car - it is mighty to drive and sounds fantastic.

Cant answer number 1 but there will be another Norfolk meet in a month or two. There is also plan to get a day at APS (Northampton area) as a few want a couple of enhancements. Keep an eye on the UK section for that as I will probably go along and have VAG com.

2 - yes. It is in the accessory manual for the A/S5.

Robb, Doom, Disaster, Rab - thanks very much for the replies. Yes I am really pleased to be an S5 owner. Like a few people I grappled with the 3.0TDI vs S5 conundrum for some time but then I was sat at the lights as an S5 motored past me to turn right and that exhaust note did it for me! I'd be very interested to attend an APS meet as I'm pretty sure I'm going to put a Miltek system on the car - might as well hear the V8 if you're going to drive one.

I got details of the AMI retrofit from the dealer today - they are quoting about £500 fitted. Does that sound about right? Costly but will be good to have it I suppose.

So I'll keep checking the UK meet section to look out for the next one. In the meantime I'm going to look at getting the car properly detailed and just enjoy driving what is a truly mighty car.
