Hi everyone. I just got my S5 last month and I have been totally hilarious with it. But I have just a few problems that I need some friends here to give me some advises. Since I am all new to the Tiptronic drive-train (my previous is 2004 A4 came with multitronic), I have quite some problems pulling a smooth complete-stop motion. It felt to me that the clutch is not working so smoothly that i think the terminal few meters are a bit "choky" (even I do double-brake most of the time). Is that normal for all tiptronic drive? My multitronic have been so silky-smoothly whenever and however i wanted to brake my A4into a complete smooth halt. Multitronic vs. tip. ... is that how i am expected that?

Also, I felt that gearing-up from 3rd to 4th..the motion is not smooth as well.

Do I need to run it back to the dealer?

Thanks in advance for your kind advises.

Welcome to the site and congratulations on becoming an S5 owner!

Have you been driving in mostly 'S' (Sport) mode or in 'D' (Drive) mode? I have found that when driving in Sport mode, I can feel some of the shifts taking place. This is particularly noticeable when I'm slowing down to come to a complete stop and the transmission is downshifting. However, when I have the car in Drive mode, the shifts seem much more smooth and I don't really feel it shifting gears unless I'm driving the car aggressively. Since I've never experienced a Multitronic, I can't give you any advice on how the Tiptronic compares to it.

Thx. TXcarguy.

Most of time I run on D mode so I am getting more and more "noticed" by the "presence of gearing up (from 3rd to 4th)" even though I run it in normal acceleration.

What annoyed me the most is about the stop. It seems like the "clutch" is "over-working" itself to release 1st gear to neutral when it is coming to a complete halt. That choky sensation is new to me. So, I am asking friends here is that normal?

Thanks again for your opinion.

strange....i dont find my S5 funny at all....

Seriously though, I think it depends on how you drive your car and if you have drive select or not. I leave mine in automatic and i can tell a big difference in how the car behaves depending on where and how im driving.

Thx. Tide.

Oh yes. Since Drive Select Package was "optional and expensive due to tax" in H.K. and therefore all Standard S5 came with "Sport" only. May be that is the reason la...

Thx. Let me give my dealer a ring to see if something they can do for me.

many thx.

after all, S5 gives me so much fun. Except the stop choky thing...I would say the only blemish is about the steering wheel...I just feel it is slightly too light.
