Just heard that the new S4 will get a V6 3.0TFSi Twin Turbo putting out 330BHP.

Would love to see this engine in the S5, but maybe Audi want the S5 to be a cruisy GT, hence the V8.

What do you think ? Will we see this new engine available in the A5/S5 ? :)

Interesting! Obviously they wanted something more racy and a little less heavy than the old V8...

...This harks back to that wonderful 2.7 twin turbo V6 in the old S4. I had the same engine in my 2.7T A6... it was fantastic.

...incidentally, MTM can get 330BHP from the 2.0T FSI, so I think there should be plent of potential to get that engine over 400bhp!!

:)
Fourtitude reported back on this last year in November...you can find more details here: http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Audi_News/article_3563.shtml
This is surely good news for the Audi faithful.

I think Audi will continue with the V8 on selected cars, but it does throw up the question of whether the new RS4 will be a blown V6, NA V8 or blown V8?

Do you think Audi feel that they are now in a position to lead the market in engine arrangement and make the change and fashion back to turbo charging instead of V8's?

This suggests to me that the new S4 will be complicit with the BMW 335i and the V8 M3 truly toe to toe with the current RS4. But what will Audi put in its next RS4. Turbo V6, NA V8, turbo V8 or possible V10? Does Audi change the goal posts first?

Rather than making even more powerful engines, I'd like to see lighter engines and lighter cars...this would make for much better handling, better performance and better economy too.

Too many cars are becoming fat pigs these days. It was good to see Audi making the new TT lighter than the old one.
SAJ... couldn't agree more! Did the safety police destroy our fun by adding every conceivable gismo making for greater weight, or is it more a case of our greater desire for more toys on board?

I don't know the answer to that one but I do remember the likes of the Golf Gti Mk1 and how light that was. Thinking Porsche, my first 911 Carrera (1986 model) weighed in at 1250 kg or so and this current one is 1495 kg. If Audi can turn a corner and make an RS4 or RS5 sub 1500 kg it would make all the difference.
Agreed guys.... especially from the engine weight, as this is the biggest imbalance affecting the handling. The old 2.7 RS4 wa amazing because it was so light for it's power... the current one... well... as Top Gear showed is as slow as a mercedes and slower than the M3 on the track... this needs to be rectified!!!
Would love to see Audi finally once and for all deliver a car that even the M3 faithful have to say... hmm... there is a bit of kit... ur quattro days!

The debate will rage on as always about M3 vs RS4... but it would be nice to think that Audi could top the charts once more in this sector!
The rumors were pointing to a supercharged V6 last i checked. Has it been confirmed that it's a TTV6?

And FYI: The 4.2 V8 in the B6 S4 was *lighter* than the outgoing 2.7TT V6. Hopefully they can make this one even lighter than the V8, as odd as that sounds.
Sounds like they need to make the engine out of unobtainium... but how good would that be!
