Hello all! I'm a new member from Des Moines, Iowa. I just picked up a 2021 A5 Sportback (45TFSI) Premium Plus with S Line trim in Glacier White with Rock Grey leather. It had about 10k miles on it as it was one of the retired service loaners at the dealer. I would have purchased a new one, but also didn't want to wait till the third quarter of this year as my lease was coming up. I am coming from a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport; and while I loved my Alfa experience, I wanted to try something unique and different. The shortlist of vehicles I was looking at:

• Volkswagen Arteon SEL Premium
• Kia Stinger GT2
• Audi Q3 S Line
• Volvo XC60 B5
• Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce

So far, I'm loving the A5, although my body is still getting used to getting in and out of a car. My neck, shoulder, and upper back aren't used to ducking in and out. I've already experienced it in the snow, and I must remember I'm not driving an SUV and don't have as much ground clearance. It's been a blast to drive, and the Quattro system works very well. Attached are some picks of the new ride. I will also mention I am getting 19" Audi Sport wheels and tires installed this week. I will be using the current 18" wheels with snow tires next winter.

A few newbie questions about Audi and the A5:

1. Is it me or does Audi Connect/MMI just decided to add navigation and audio favorites at random? It seems like sometimes when I get in the car, the info I programmed in is there, other times it says there are no favorites. I swear I have entered information multiple times and my user profile is always connected.
2. What should be the current software version for MMI for North America?
3. When getting in and out of the A5 at night, is it typical to only have the overhead lighting shine on the seat for the door to be opened instead of flooding the interior with light?
4. Anyone else confused when they opened the hood for the first time and couldn't find where to add the windshield washer fluid?
5. I know there is a key fob shortage, so I only have one key. What happens if I lose that key, does the dealer have some way of getting me an emergency replacement during the shortage?

Very nice looking car mate welcome on board. I would visit a specialist and get a second key NOW before you need one cos otherwise you are at risk!!!

A specialist? Such as? The dealership says they cannot order a key as mine is one of the vehicles that has a key shortage issue. Also a number of new vehicles are only coming with one key at the moment. It’s very frustrating but apparently the key fobs are made in the same facility as the microchips, bubble tea, and toilet paper that has been in short supply since the pandemic started.

Blimey, never heard that one before. I mean to find a car electronic specialist who can make a key up for you.

Buy second hand one off eBay.
Contact a locksmith to re-programm it for you.
