Morning all, I am new on here and this is my first post. The Sat Nav on my B8.5 Sportback S5 has recently developed a glitch whereby it doesn’t seem to recognise my location. I booked it in at my local dealership for an update which I thought might solve the issue but I was then given just a plain stupid quote of £288! (I probably would have been ok paying £150 - £200 but close to ££300, NO). I put in the same service request with a few more dealers to see who will give me the best quote but in the meantime, I thought I’ll come on here to see if anyone has had a similar issue, and I am glad I did because it seems a few people on here have. From reading through the threads, I am pretty certain what my car needs is new roof antenna. The only question I have which no one seems to have detailed, ‘what is the cost to replace the antenna’? Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forum. No idea on cost, but the dealer price will be expensive and i think it will need painting too. Try eBay, but there are 3 versions supporting GSM/GPS/webasto heater etc.

You can try fitting a cheap GPS puck on top of the glovebox. I did this when retrofitting Navigation in an A3 years ago. Worked fine.

Thanks John, that might well be an option.

You may wish to invest in a VCDS product which allows you to do loads of stuff with your car and avoid the official dealers too!! See Ross-Tech: VCDS their web site is awful but the products are great!!!

Common problem. Just fit aftermarket GPS (blue fakra) instead. Costs about a tenner. Make sure you have the keys to unlock the MMI from its cradle. These keys also cost next to nothing.
