Hi, everyone hope your having a great day👋, I’m looking to buy a audi a5 3.0 tdi but im not sure if I should go for the 2010 model or a new model , I saw the best ones are from 2010 , 2012 and 2014 have some oil problems but just wanted to have more insight from anyone that owns one . Thanks

I'm no Audi expert but I imagine the car with the most paperwork and best service history will be the best option. Check the door sills for corrosion and make sure the DSG servicing has been done (if Auto)

I'm not sure what gearbox was used on the 3.0 tdi but if it is the s-tronic then be aware that the early models had issues - it would be safest to get a late 2013 or newer car.

Mate, in my opinion and experience my points would be:

1. Any car purchase is always a risk so do as much homework as possible and try not to buy the first A5 that you see.
2. Read more on here the 3.0TDI threads.
3. In general the A5 is very well made indeed and the 3.0 diesel engine is the strongest engine fitted to this car.
4. Full service history is VERY important indeed of course. Auto or manual is your taste I prefer the auto.

Please tell us how you get on!!! Best wishes Simon
