Not really a build update, but just an update from Quattro land, 4wd really comes to it's own when the conditions are like this. Nice bite from decent tires, and the stiffer ARB's really makes the car a lot more oversteery in the slippery conditions.

Oh, and the dark photo with just the dim headlights, that's the same location from the mountain on the previous page, what a difference 6 months makes!

During my daily browsing of the classifieds, car-related or not, I came across a set of S5 seats a guy was selling due to making his a track car. E-mail sent, phone call made, and not long after was my father on the way to collect them. Advertised as done "only" 2000km I had high hopes, but were disappointed to see some normal wear and tear, especially on the bolsters. They definitely had done more than 2000km. But what was more annoying were several of what I call storage marks, dents and prints on the leather simply formed over long term pressure.

I did my best with a heat gun, the local Audi dealer helped fit the rear seat bench and swap the locks over. I had to wrestle a bit with the front seats module, but managed to circumvent the dreaded component protection by just using my old seats module.
I'm thinking about putting S5 seats in mine - did you have to changing any wiring or looms? Or was it a straight swap with just the modules to change?

I only transferred my seat module from my original seats. Otherwise it was a straight swap with plug & play. The one thing I'll note is that the seat module were, weirdly enough, of a different size between the two seats, and since the module separates in 2 parts from the seat I also had to transfer the other half otherwise stuck to the seat and from what I could see it wasn't just screwed or clipped in place as I had to break it loose. I ended up using double sided tape and zip ties to re-seat it. Works fine and it doesn't show underneath the seat anyways.

thanks for the information - finally, do you think the sport seats are a big improvement over standard?

In short, no but I think that depends on what you're after. Visually IMO they're a huge improvement and was the main reason I swapped. I doubt they're that much more supportive but I suppose that depends on your body shape/figure too. I fitted inflatable bolsters so for me they're much better than the OEM items I had before.

Top work, those wheels really set it off! The poly bushes do make a big difference for sure, day to day thats a favourite of mine. Keep it up, there's always more you can do if you put you're thinking cap on. Inflatable bolsters were a brilliant idea, best feature of my old M
