yes, question?
last fw ==> RMC4_EU_P16342_H6x
maps ==> RMC_EU_2022_P52_50_21.03

The problem:
I've tried to update my firmware (MMI 3G+) to K0767 and got the following error:
GEMMI_nav:0 error code 141
I could only access "Retry" choice (but update kept blocking at 5% with the same error) or "Back" button that was useless
Unable to do anything else, even the Reset procedure didn't work!
Root cause:
This is a file corruption error, the MMI didn't like what it found on the SD card.
Because I'm a stupid software engineer who thinks he knows best, I didn't trust the forums and copied the files from my mac onto the SD card (using command line to clean-up the .Trashes/ and alike folders)
So this is the lesson: DO NOT COPY FROM A MAC
Sub-lesson: better learn from other's mistakes than redo the experience...
Solution:
As stated previously, even a MMI reset procedure didn't allow me to get out of the error.
So I went to my neighbour's Windows PC, reformatted the SD card and extracted the RAR archive onto it.
Back to the car, update went fine and completed successfully after 30 minutes
Hope this experience will help some fellow here...
Q&A sectionLESSONS LEARNED - NEVER USE MAC OS (or Unix, Linux based OS) for unpack and copy map or firmware data into SD card. Also always format SD card in Windows OS. USE ONLY WINDOWS FOR UNPACK/COPY!!!
I had to upgrade Firmware as well. I could not load map data even they were copied in windows. It means that also Firmware was corrupted.
I found cca 10 000 hidden files on Firmware SD card. Dangerous is that Firmware seemed to be OK all the time but it was not and I could destroy whole MMI
(Imagine that FPGA or EEPROM is burned with some hidden apple .bin file....).
yes, question? Can anyone help me my Audi is a Q3 2018 the software versions that on the car is RMC_EU_P16342
Thanks
Short answer is: YES -- but you will likely need to do the update as "user defined" (i.e., not "Standard"). --gI successfully installed MMI 3G+/3GP navigation 6.35.1 (2022/2023) map data over the factory installed maps on my Audi A5 Sportback last year.
Can I simply repeat the process to install the 2023 maps ?
(i.e. without deleting the Nav Database).
You have an RMC unit. Do not attempt to use the files in this thread it will end badly. Can anyone help me my Audi is a Q3 2018 the software versions that on the car is RMC_EU_P16342
Thanks
I went to my friend and got his 16 GB microSD card that is formatted in fat32. I tried putting your script in but nothing happens. The car (MMI) doesn't respond to the autorun script screen.I'll add to @JulianHicks 's remarks that (re)installing the MMI software efs-system package will generally over-write the changes made by the Keldo "activator" script in /mnt/efs-system/etc and /mnt/efs-system/sbin (and any other changes made in this part of flash memory). If that is the case, my recommendation for restoring access to the navigation database is to apply my revised patch to unblock access to navigation data: MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker/navunblocker-230308.zip at main · DrGER2/MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker --g
Sorry for the delay. I will try to answer your questions.@ccb
Firstly, a few miscellaneous. points:
1) You still haven't explained what you were doing to create the NOK screen prints above.
2) If might help to know what levels you started with before you installed K0942 & 6.33.1.
3) Please explain what you mean by "Congo posted metafile which changed version number". I haven't seen that post and the reference on #1 is to 6.36.0 on Meta. {I haven't downloaded it so I don't know what the label value is].
Secondly, the 'Modified Firmware' removes update references to Bose and B&O amps in the meta files. But there have been no Bose updates to HN+R systems since the K0770 version in Sep 2013. If you update the MMI from this version or any other later versions, there are no Bose updates: that is, the P1001 versions are the same as the K0770 versions and you don't need the 'modified firmware'.
[And BTW for anyone reading; I don't believe the P1001 version is an update released by Audi; it's labelled Pxxxx so I believe it was meant for new vehicle builds but never a field update. There are no device updates from K0942 to P1001, only updates to the MMI system that I think were needed for a new HW level - 62 - of the MU. I applied this update succesfully to my A8 [0942 to 1001] and saw absolutely no changes to my MMI other than a new version number! I know it only took 10 minutes but it doesn't seem worth doing.]
Thirdly, if your order of actions was really 1,2, 3, what was the point of reinstalling K0942?
As @JulianHicks noted above, P1001 is a production update for MainUnit HW62 -- the only package that is changed in P1001 is MU9411/ifs-root/62, which supplies boot and other support utilities for MainUnit version HW62. While it can be applied to all HN+R_EU systems, this update has no real benefit for most (older) HN+R_EU systems. --g
Thank you for the update so you know is there is anyway I can update the systemYou have an RMC unit. Do not attempt to use the files in this thread it will end badly.
what map package did you download for NZ?Audi produces a map pack that includes some much smaller regions (Aus/NZ, Middle East 1 & 2, Singapore etc) - I have just literally managed to get my copy of 2021 maps to work in NZ - Congo supplied me a corrected activator to enable these, as there is not one working as yet.
Hopefully he will update the post here with the ROW support maps, mine were 2019 and so its good to have this new version!
In the forum it is said that the eeprom must be changed, which is a very long and responsible job. I was convinced that such a thing can be done without changing the eeprom, so I asked here in the forum for any possible solution. Thank you.if you would search the forum, you will find, that the eeprom needs to be modified.
can you share with me also please, how to install only latest maps on us.kr models without changing region and programing eeprom , thank youI have found solution for update eu maps in us firmware for MMI 3G and 3G+
