These are the required files and folders for Map 6.33.1 with 32GB SD card. Thanks to @JulianHicks for creating the lists.
See "3GP_Filelist.txt" (3GP) and "3GH_Filelist.txt" (3G High) attachments in this post.

You might need GEM (Green engineering menu) activated and use User Defined Mode and manually select all that is under AUDI_MMI3G_ECE if it's not selected.

Warning - FW update K0900 is removing the "Emergency Update" option from the "Green Menu". There is a way that this can be fixed.

• Emergency menu activation on K0900 firmware. [ Only for A5OC ]
• To enable the Green Menu you could use VCDS, VAS or the following script [ Green menu activation ]
• 03623 [ 03623 Remove ]
  1. Unzip it on the SD card.
  2. Put the sd card in the MMI.
  3. When prompted press the center knob.
  4. After the script is done you will see confirmation screen.
  5. Remove the SD card and reboot MMI

Do not use MAC to unpack and/or copy the files to the SD card.

The problem:
I've tried to update my firmware (MMI 3G+) to K0767 and got the following error:

GEMMI_nav:0 error code 141
I could only access "Retry" choice (but update kept blocking at 5% with the same error) or "Back" button that was useless
Unable to do anything else, even the Reset procedure didn't work!

Root cause:
This is a file corruption error, the MMI didn't like what it found on the SD card.
Because I'm a stupid software engineer who thinks he knows best, I didn't trust the forums and copied the files from my mac onto the SD card (using command line to clean-up the .Trashes/ and alike folders)
So this is the lesson: DO NOT COPY FROM A MAC
Sub-lesson: better learn from other's mistakes than redo the experience...

Solution:
As stated previously, even a MMI reset procedure didn't allow me to get out of the error.
So I went to my neighbour's Windows PC, reformatted the SD card and extracted the RAR archive onto it.
Back to the car, update went fine and completed successfully after 30 minutes

Hope this experience will help some fellow here...
LESSONS LEARNED - NEVER USE MAC OS (or Unix, Linux based OS) for unpack and copy map or firmware data into SD card. Also always format SD card in Windows OS. USE ONLY WINDOWS FOR UNPACK/COPY!!!

I had to upgrade Firmware as well. I could not load map data even they were copied in windows. It means that also Firmware was corrupted.
I found cca 10 000 hidden files on Firmware SD card. Dangerous is that Firmware seemed to be OK all the time but it was not and I could destroy whole MMI
(Imagine that FPGA or EEPROM is burned with some hidden apple .bin file....).
Q&A section
Here are some of the questions raised by the forum members about the update process that I might failed to explain in the manual.

Q. Do i need VCDS to do the update?
A. No, you need VCDS only to clear some errors after the update but the MMI will function correctly even if you don’t clear them out.

Q. I have a Bang & Olufsen sound system not a Bose. Does this also mean that i need to exclude it?
A. Yes, better not to update the DSP system.

Q. Currently no updates for North America?
A. Not for now.

Q. I have mmi 3gp , version p0XXX can i go straight to k0900?
A. Yes.

Q. Have found the activation script and it includes "2380_00040009.fsc". This should be changed according to manual Page 31 to the MAC address specifically to my MMI or should I continue to use the "2380_00040009.fsc" as stated in the manual page 18.
A. Leave the filename as it is now.

Q. The 2380_00040009.fsc file contains a VIN number. Should that be changed to my VIN number?
A. No, do not attempt the edit the fsc file.

Q. Will my VIN be visible and correct in the MMI
A. Yes.

Q. Only thing is that my Google Maps option is greyed out... any hints?
A. Reinstall the GEMMI_nav component from the K0900.

Q. 01043 - Control Module; Incorrect Software Version - How can i solve this ?
A. Restart the MMI and remove the key from ignition then put it back in. The error should change from 01043 - Control Module; Incorrect Software Version to 03276 - Please Check Software Version Management.

Q. What does the new firmware bring in terms of added functionality?
A. Not much, apart from K0770/K0767 fixing the issues with the SIM data connection and Bluetooth usage at the same time.

Q. What are 03276 and 03175, will they affect the MMI in anyway and how can they be avoided?
A. 03276 - Please Check Software Version Management will appear every time when the software is updated w/o VAS connection to the VW/Audi servers.
03175 - Invalid Data Set will appear when updating the map w/o deleting it first. Sometimes this helps to avoid that error.
They will not affect the functionality or the sound characteristics of the MMI.

Q. Is there a way to use used defined mode w/o "Green Menu"?
A. Yes. In file metainfo2.txt in the root folder if you remove the line "MetafileChecksum=XXXXXX" and add
EnableUserDefinedSWDLMode = "true"
skipMetaCRC = "true"
the you will be able to use the user mode w/o the green menu.

Warning - At no stage I take responsibility of your actions or any of my notes that may mislead you. Therefore, and like my all other documents I say “use at your own risk”.

Can anyone help me my Audi is a Q3 2018 the software versions that on the car is RMC_EU_P16342
Thanks
yes, question?

last fw ==> RMC4_EU_P16342_H6x
maps ==> RMC_EU_2022_P52_50_21.03
I successfully installed MMI 3G+/3GP navigation 6.35.1 (2022/2023) map data over the factory installed maps on my Audi A5 Sportback last year.
Can I simply repeat the process to install the 2023 maps ?
(i.e. without deleting the Nav Database).
Short answer is: YES -- but you will likely need to do the update as "user defined" (i.e., not "Standard"). --g

You have an RMC unit. Do not attempt to use the files in this thread it will end badly.
I'll add to @JulianHicks 's remarks that (re)installing the MMI software efs-system package will generally over-write the changes made by the Keldo "activator" script in /mnt/efs-system/etc and /mnt/efs-system/sbin (and any other changes made in this part of flash memory). If that is the case, my recommendation for restoring access to the navigation database is to apply my revised patch to unblock access to navigation data: MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker/navunblocker-230308.zip at main · DrGER2/MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker --g
I went to my friend and got his 16 GB microSD card that is formatted in fat32. I tried putting your script in but nothing happens. The car (MMI) doesn't respond to the autorun script screen.
I must add that I previously had 'the green menu' enabled.

@ccb
Firstly, a few miscellaneous. points:
1) You still haven't explained what you were doing to create the NOK screen prints above.
2) If might help to know what levels you started with before you installed K0942 & 6.33.1.
3) Please explain what you mean by "Congo posted metafile which changed version number". I haven't seen that post and the reference on #1 is to 6.36.0 on Meta. {I haven't downloaded it so I don't know what the label value is].

Secondly, the 'Modified Firmware' removes update references to Bose and B&O amps in the meta files. But there have been no Bose updates to HN+R systems since the K0770 version in Sep 2013. If you update the MMI from this version or any other later versions, there are no Bose updates: that is, the P1001 versions are the same as the K0770 versions and you don't need the 'modified firmware'.

[And BTW for anyone reading; I don't believe the P1001 version is an update released by Audi; it's labelled Pxxxx so I believe it was meant for new vehicle builds but never a field update. There are no device updates from K0942 to P1001, only updates to the MMI system that I think were needed for a new HW level - 62 - of the MU. I applied this update succesfully to my A8 [0942 to 1001] and saw absolutely no changes to my MMI other than a new version number! I know it only took 10 minutes but it doesn't seem worth doing.]

Thirdly, if your order of actions was really 1,2, 3, what was the point of reinstalling K0942?
Sorry for the delay. I will try to answer your questions. :)

1) To get the NOK screen prints I mentioned above (in the pictures I posted here) I was trying to install the maps using a 32GB USB flash drive that is formatted in FAT32. I'd like to add that previously I haven't had problems with maps not being installed successfully at the end. I must regret to inform you that I have had errors previously as well when installing the last year's maps using this method. However, if I just kept pressing "Retry" every time the error happened, the MMI managed to install the updates at the end.
Unfortunately, this time that didn't work and I ended up skipping some parts. And these parts are the parts of the NOK screens that I posted.
2) Not sure what you meant by "what levels you started... before installing K0942 & 6.33.1"
3) My apologies, it was Alex08 in the post here.
and to the 'thirdly' question, I wasn't sure if the update was caused by me installing different firmware or what. As I previously had K0942 and not anything else (other than the firmware that came with the manufacturer in 2013), thought that this must have made the maps not fully updated. I'm not familiar with this process and I am a huge newby. Unfortunately in Latvia, not many places know how to do this and to pay 2 day's salary for doing a maps update for me doesn't seem feasible if there's a chance of doing it myself and for free (apart from spending my time in this) :p

In the end, I'm not sure what to do next.

The tools I have:
  1. USB flash drive
  2. 16GB SD card
  3. K0942 and P1001 downloaded firmware updates
  4. 6.33.1 maps download that is split for 32GB card with the 3GP_Filelist.txt and also a full list of those files not filtered.
Last night I spent 2 hours trying to get the activator to run from the 16GB SD card, the car said the media is unreadable or something like that; the generic message when the MMI can't read the media drive (in my case, the SD card that I inputted in slot 1 (tried slot 2 too)). I then tried to put the maps on the SD card instead. Since the SD card isn't big enough for the whole list of folders in the required update, I was inputting files manually, what I can at the time. After putting all of the files that were possible to be copied onto the SD card, I tried installing the maps. The car installed some updates (which is odd since I already installed the same maps with my USB stick a couple of days ago). But other updates didn't work; I figured that it was because there aren't all of the required files. Therefore I deleted the files from the SD card and pasted the next batch of the files. Now, when assigning which updates I want to do and which not, I all of the sections that had "N", I opened and tried checking in so the tick is on, but it wasn't doing that, although there would be updates if it would let me tick them.
I now ended up with maps not having an error saying "not readable maps database or whatever" but "Initialising navigation... Please wait..." instead.

What is the difference between:
HN+R_EU_AU_K0942 modified vs
HN+R_EU_AU_K1001 Stock firmware
As @JulianHicks noted above, P1001 is a production update for MainUnit HW62 -- the only package that is changed in P1001 is MU9411/ifs-root/62, which supplies boot and other support utilities for MainUnit version HW62. While it can be applied to all HN+R_EU systems, this update has no real benefit for most (older) HN+R_EU systems. --g
With regard to P1001 MMI update for HN+R systems, it's important to understand that although it only adds a new version for 62 versions of the MainUnit [MU], ALL vehicles will have their MU firmware and MMI code updated AND 'Activation' will be removed ...
You have an RMC unit. Do not attempt to use the files in this thread it will end badly.
Thank you for the update so you know is there is anyway I can update the system
Audi produces a map pack that includes some much smaller regions (Aus/NZ, Middle East 1 & 2, Singapore etc) - I have just literally managed to get my copy of 2021 maps to work in NZ - Congo supplied me a corrected activator to enable these, as there is not one working as yet.

Hopefully he will update the post here with the ROW support maps, mine were 2019 and so its good to have this new version!
what map package did you download for NZ?
if you found it, tell me :p

if you would search the forum, you will find, that the eeprom needs to be modified.
In the forum it is said that the eeprom must be changed, which is a very long and responsible job. I was convinced that such a thing can be done without changing the eeprom, so I asked here in the forum for any possible solution. Thank you.

Hello,

I have this version of maps and software, from what I understand it would be the ones from 2013 (it is a 2013 Audi A5). From what I read on the forum, I have to download the 3 files that I stopped at the top. My question is if I need 3 cards, one for each file and if I need to activate the green menu.

Thank you for help.

@radula02 I would suggest you need 2 SD cards formatted as FAT32; 1 must be at least 32GB [for maps] and the other 2GB [for MMI update and later, the 'activator'].
I would download to a Windows PC:
1) K0942 MMI update for HN+
2) 6.36.0 Maps
3) The unblocker by DrGer as in post above DrGER

I would do it as follows:
1) Put the K0942 MMI files on the 2GB SD card and run the MMI update - should be less than 30 mins. Once complete, you can format the 2GB SD card and put the Unblocker onto it.
2) Check that the new MMI works; maybe I'd wait a day or two to see it all works OK.
3) Put the Map files for 3G plus system on the 32GB SD card. You'll need to select the files and folders as per the filelists in post #1. [They lists say 6.33 & 6.34, but the same folders are used for 6.35 and 6.36 maps]
4) Run the map update; will take about 90 mins.
5) On restart of the MMI after map update, wait five minutes or so for the 'map is blocked' or similar message and then insert the 2GB SD card to auto run the Unblocker.

Don't delete the three sets of files in case you need them again ...

@radula02 I forget to answer your query about the Green Menu.
My step 4 above may need you to run the map update in 'User Defined' mode. The Green Menu allows this but you need to enable it.
IMO, a better alternative is to edit the metainfo2.txt file in the root with Notepad as follows:
Remove MetafileChecksum=XXXXXX
Add EnableUserDefinedSWDLMode = "true"
Add skipMetaCRC = "true"
@JulianHicks Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the 3 files according to the attached picture. they are good? I did not understand what you mean with lists 6.33 and 6.34 and 6.35 and 6.36. I have one more question; they can also use micro sd cards or only sd card.

Hello guys !
I've just updated my firmware to HN+_EU_AU3G_K_0942 and then my maps to 6.36.0.
I did everything as described and it's perfectly fine !
Thanks for all the work you've done !
My question is can I use Google Earth ?
My unit is with SIM card 😉
When I select google earth and wait 2-3 minutes I get this error: "Not enough data in memory. Google earth will switch to standard map display."
Is it possible to fix this ?
Thanks in advance!
@radula02 DrGer's is 'better'; youcan use micro SDs but some report unreliability; you can use green menu or metainfo2.txt update above to run 'User Defined' mode
Oh, and by the way, the file lists indicate which folders to put on the SD so that they fit a 32GBG card ...
