actual software you use?
With the A6 4G / HN+R, the "BoseG3_C7" folder (and all subordinates within it) must be specifically deselected at BOSE before the update is started.
If this is then set to "N", it also works with the sound after the UPD, without re-parameterization. ;-)
Hi Alex,

Thanks for replying :)

Well, new update !
The component protection is gone, it looks like the head unit recognise all the other units :) (still the original units)

For the story:
I've proceed to all the update of the firmware up to the last on (provided on the post) and allways carefully uncheck the Bose update for each update.
Everything was working fine.
After that, I instaled the GPS Map and try to crack it (unsuccessfully).
Only after that my cd/dvd/etc... stoped working. but all the Bose setting are still available...

I will try to look if their is an "uncomplete or unsuccessfull update" pending.

Map installation must be done custom with all possible options selected. (via GreenMenu or mod. metainfo2)
Activation:
- Go to Navi and wait until the message "Navigation data not activated" appears.
Only then does the SD card go into Slot1! After a successful update,
IMMEDIATELY restart the card from Slot1 and the MMI with the monkey grip.
- New activation only required in connection with an FW update or first map update

We determined recently that patching the MMI3G system to by-pass the normal nav database activation process can be done anytime. The process to "unblock" access to an updated nav database (not really "activation", as such) was first described by Keldo in 2014, but his method is overly complicated, IMO. I re-investigated this recently to satisfy my own curiosity, and put together a simplified approach to unblock nav database access, described here: GitHub - DrGER2/MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker: Patch MMI3G/3GP systems to unblock access to an updated navigation database. --g

Hi guys, I have an Audi A3 2014 with the following version MHIG_EU_AU_S1048. I’d like to update the firmware and maps. I came across this thread, but as I never done this before could you help me by pointing some resources and the files that I need to download. On the first page I didn’t see anything about an A3 so I’m confused.

Is this OK?

Additionally, my activator doesn't work, when I plug in the usb drive, it says it cannot read the media. I however was successful to update the firmware without issues.

Now my maps don't work as the MMI says the map data are invalid or something like this.

I hope someone could help.

P.S. one more annoying thing I noticed about updating is that my settings (boot lid close by pressing button on the remote) has been reset and isn't closing anymore. Will have to purchase monthly sub of €10 to get it working again. That's sad.

@ccb , clearly it's Not OK, as that is what NOK means! You have not correctly updated all the Nav files, so it won't work, But you won't be able to get help if you don't explain what you did and which versions you had and what you tried to install.

The 'Activator' needs to be on a FAT32 card to be recognised and the MMI restarted for about 5 minutes before it will recognise and run it.

Surely the boot lid close is an MMI setting and nothing to do with any update you've done?

Can I ask if the filelist attachments on the first post of this thread, showing which files are needed to fit onto a 32GB SD card, are valid for the 6.36.1 update? The header in the file says for 6.33.1 and 6.34.1, so just checking.

I have previously used a 64GB sd card, formatted FAT32, to do my map updates (currently on 6.35.1) but for some reason I now get "medium is currently unavailable" when I try and use that for 6.36.1.

Thanks.

I was the author of those lists; I've checked 6.35.1 and the same folder structure as 6.33.1 & 6.34.1 exists. I haven't got 6.36.0 yet so can't check, but I'd expect it to be the same ...

Sorry for the lack of information.

I hope this helps:
(in 2022) I had the last 2022 maps installed for my Audi A6 C7 3GP MMI:
  • HN+R_EU_AU_K0942 Modified firmware - User Defined Mode / No Sound systems (HN+R_EU_AU_K0942_4)
  • Maps v 6.33.1 2021/2022 MMI 3G High/Plus Europe
  • and the activator
After this, everything was working smoothly, even with my Bose system.

(in 2023) I then installed the new update in the following order (I'm sorry in advance about what you are going to see):
  1. HN+R_EU_AU_K1001 - Stock firmware
  2. 6.36.0 2023 MMI 3G High/Plus Europe (FYI, in one of the recent posts, congo posted metafile, which changed the version number to 6.36.1, which is what I also did, which means, the MMI thinks its 6.36.1 maps)
  3. HN+R_EU_AU_K0942 Modified firmware
P.S. the user-defined setting is accessible to me.

Firstly, a few miscellaneous. points:
1) You still haven't explained what you were doing to create the NOK screen prints above.
2) If might help to know what levels you started with before you installed K0942 & 6.33.1.
3) Please explain what you mean by "Congo posted metafile which changed version number". I haven't seen that post and the reference on #1 is to 6.36.0 on Meta. {I haven't downloaded it so I don't know what the label value is].

Secondly, the 'Modified Firmware' removes update references to Bose and B&O amps in the meta files. But there have been no Bose updates to HN+R systems since the K0770 version in Sep 2013. If you update the MMI from this version or any other later versions, there are no Bose updates: that is, the P1001 versions are the same as the K0770 versions and you don't need the 'modified firmware'.

[And BTW for anyone reading; I don't believe the P1001 version is an update released by Audi; it's labelled Pxxxx so I believe it was meant for new vehicle builds but never a field update. There are no device updates from K0942 to P1001, only updates to the MMI system that I think were needed for a new HW level - 62 - of the MU. I applied this update succesfully to my A8 [0942 to 1001] and saw absolutely no changes to my MMI other than a new version number! I know it only took 10 minutes but it doesn't seem worth doing.]

Thirdly, if your order of actions was really 1,2, 3, what was the point of reinstalling K0942?

I'll add to @JulianHicks 's remarks that (re)installing the MMI software efs-system package will generally over-write the changes made by the Keldo "activator" script in /mnt/efs-system/etc and /mnt/efs-system/sbin (and any other changes made in this part of flash memory). If that is the case, my recommendation for restoring access to the navigation database is to apply my revised patch to unblock access to navigation data: MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker/navunblocker-230308.zip at main · DrGER2/MMI3G-Navdb-Unblocker --g

I successfully installed MMI 3G+/3GP navigation 6.35.1 (2022/2023) map data over the factory installed maps on my Audi A5 Sportback last year.
Can I simply repeat the process to install the 2023 maps ?
(i.e. without deleting the Nav Database).
