I would also like some clarification on this point, if anyone can give it, as there appears to be plenty of members here who list the previous DVD Nav with the BT Phone Prep Low in their sigs. Also a recent order for an A5 Cab with 3G MMi was also accepted with BT Phone Prep Low whereas it does clearly state in the brochure that only the high can be combined with the Technology Package.
missing free bluetooth
Hi All,
First apologies if i have this in the wrong section, not sure which place i should post this. I am looking for advice, I was told by my dealer that the A5 2.0TDi came with bluetooth for free. Which is the case according to the new brochure. Therefore I did not order it with my dealer as there was no requirement. I ordered the technology pack, now what i didnt realise until i fully read the brochure on thursday night was that it comes with bluetooth low, not bluetooth high, bluetooth low is not compatable with technology pack. I contacted my dealer on Friday and he said he would check with the factory as my car is being built this coming week.
After a long drawn out conversation he said that bluetooth low was definately not compatable, the factory engineers will decide when the car comes down the line to if they fit the low components or not, but definately would not fit the high components to make it work with the technology pack. It was also too late to change anything on the order as it was confirmed and after that the dealer has no ability to change anything, he suggested that I contact Audi customer service.
Audi customer service where less than helpful indicating this was an issue for my dealer to sort not them as they did not take the order and an order should not have been put through like this.
Both parties seem to be shirking responsibility
anyone been in this position before?
Has anyone had items changed at the factory at this late stage before?
I would like to know if it possible to upgrade low bluetooth to high? Or somehow make low work with the technology pack?
I am happy to pay the difference which was 270 quid i just want bluetooth!

I have an Audi A5 Convertible on order with the same configuration, the order has been accepted and a comm. number issued.

I reckon you're right in that once the order has been accepted by the factory and a commission number given that's it done.
By the way are you keeping your coupe?
I too have an A5 Cab on order (although I don't have a comm number - whatever that is!) with the 3G MMI Sat Nav and BT Phone Prep Low.
Amazing that your dealer, initially, would not let you order the full leather seats with the silver stitching because the brochure is ambiguous on this point however no problem at all when it comes to Sat Nav and BT Phone Prep Low when it clearly states in the brochure that you must have BT Phone Prep High!I too have an A5 Cab on order (although I don't have a comm number - whatever that is!) with the 3G MMI Sat Nav and BT Phone Prep Low.

That's exactly point of this thread as some people are being told, as per the brochure, that they cannot have BT Phone Prep Low with Sat Nav when clearly it is possible.Yeah, but my point is that it is possible.

The brochure is certainly ambiguous on the silver stitching and equally, I did notice that the brochure did appear to state the Bluetooth configurations as you've pointed out, but during the ordering process, the salesman took the Bluetooth (low & 3G Sat Nav MMI) order without any problems.
The salesman said that the difference between low and high was being able to send text messages via the MMI...
Also, the brochure states there's a phone aerial on the roof, but forgot to ask the salesman how that works in the cab!
I suspect the aerial will be a 'traditional' one on the rear wing or a 'fin' on the boot. HAve seen both used for BT phones on other cars.. TT R and BM CabsAgreed!

Slightly off topic but still relevant, what is the difference between BT low and high?
I told the salesman that all I wanted was connectivity with the phone and car and the ability to talk hands free, ie concealed mic and (car) speaker. I also didn't want any cradles anywhere. He answered that the BT Low was what I needed.

My understanding of the brochure was that Phone Prep hi was only available if you ordered in combination with Tech Pack (ie MMI 3G), not that phone prep low is incompatible.
As others have a confirmed order that has been accepted with Phone Prep low and Tech Pack 1.
