Strange title I know, but is it just me or does Meteor Grey lure birds to take a dump on it?

No sooner have I cleaned my car, within a few hours there is a lovely dump or two on it? It gets worse throughout the week when it is parked at work.

Never had this much of a problem in my old Brilliant Red car!

Anyone else seeing this? Talk about pain in the backside when you're trying to keep your A5 mint.

I have a massive problem with parking on my road. Opposite my house there're trees over hanging the road and it has actually done some quite nasty damage to the lacquer on my A4 so i feel your pain, albeit not a spanking new A5 still very annoying.

Edit: The road is in my avatar.

My last car was a pearl Ebony Black A3 and I used to have the same problem when it was clean. On a couple of occassions I failed to clean the droppings immediately and soon found that this damaged the paint (dull patches). I soon learnt to wash the droppings off immediately, even if it meant just trying to swill some water over before I could get time for a full wash.

I once heard that birds like to do their droppings over water and they confuse the reflection from the windscreen etc with water. Could well be an urban myth.

I'm just curious what makes you associate porn with taking a dump. It's not the conventional response to porn.

On second thought...I don't wanna know.

Thank you for this wonderful thread! Makes me laugh!!

I've also thanks to this thread learnt a lot about birds toilet habits , didn't know about the poop-in-water thing until now.

I've been sail racing for all my life and the birds around me seem to willingly aim for anything that's NOT water (i.e my boat and more specifically my forehead)..

Anyway, I do feel lucky I have an Ice Silver A5, with no poops (yet)..:D

Well, I don't even have my car yet and a bird crapped on my shoulder yesterday. Now that I think of it, I was wearing a blue shirt...

Bird poop and porn??? Is that an "across the pond" thing?

I heard.... and yes seriously..... that birds crap on cars of a similar colour to themselves... so if you have a black car then the crows etc will crap on it, white = gulls etc you get the idea... suppose red would be ok then.

We live near some woods and have loads of crows and wood pigeons ...I currently have a Black Merc and most mornings can be woken up by the crows actually on the roof of the car pecking the roof !! Neighbours must think I'm mad as they thus get woken by me leaning out the window shouting at the crows and trying to scare them away... the pigeons leave well alone.

So you don't have red birds in the UK? We've got cardinals here. There aren't too many, and I've never seen any attacking a car. But just sayin'.

Certainly not. That would be vulgar and, well, just not British ;) Oh, hang on, we do have 'red grouse' but they're brown, and generally stay well hidden as they know that we know they're tasty.

Pretty much all our wildlife if a sort of dull brown colour and generally fairly inoffensive, aside from the odd dump.

Oh and we don't do extreme weather either.

Speak for yourself, Mate. It reached 25C in Leeds last Saturday! That's about 3 degrees off the temp on the surface of the sun, that is.

Heh...that's cute. (That's 77F for us Yanks, or slightly above room temperatue.) A blistering July day here is likely to be closer to 100F (38C).

Or did I miss a joke?

I heard using those Wooden Owls as a hood ornament does the trick.

(My Ibis gets crapped on by seagulls near the recycling/dumping plant nearby)

Whas this thread about 2birds1cup ?

Strange but true ... my freshly polished Meteor A5 was parked up the other day between a black car and a green car. Came back after a couple of hours to find that a flock of gulls had over-dosed on syrup of figs and dumped all over my roof and back end. The cars on either side? Very minor splattering!!

Well, A bird with dioreah decided to crap on my car today. I'm talking crap from the front all the way to the boot. I was just leaving home on my way to work so had to quickly wipe it down, and managed to rinse it all off with warm water.

Think im going to have to go for a hand car wash tonight. Dont want any residue eating into the paintwork.

If a bird crapped on the roof of my car, I swear to God I'd never take her out again! ;)
