I recently had a remap done on my 3.0l 2008 manual A5 and the first thing I noticed is the low end torque is no longer there! from idle to 2000rpm the engine is pretty flat, onc you hit the magic 2000rpm the acceleration is awesome. I#ve run it in for severaal hundred miles now and only use BP super diesel, I also just had the diesel filters etc changed.
The car is definetly way quicker than it was but only when the engine is over 2000rpm
Has anyone else experiensed this with remaps?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I had my map tweaked 5 times by Bluefin/superchips to get it just how I wanted. I experienced the same, giving high torque at the upper end of 2nd and 3rd gears.
I do notice though that when cold the engine needs to warm up first before the turbo kicks in on my car, when it does after say 5mins or so driving then its awesome acceleration.

If you have had it done at a workshop centre then get them to adjust it for you. Who did your remap?

My local garage sent the ECU away to have the remap done. It is going back next week to let the guy tweak it if it doesn't work I'll put it back to standard.

I've done comparison time checks with it compared to the standard and its defo a lot more responsive and faster than when it was standard but only when the engine is over the 2000 rev mark, when it is compared to a standard on times starting at the bottom end of the rev range it is slower than the standard.

Hopefully the remap can be adjusted to bring in the torque in quicker?

I am wondering if this is the same with all of these 3.0l after a remap?

sorry to be harsh but imho buying a generic map is a bit like buying the gf lingerie off the internet.

If it works - great
If not - at best it could be a disappointment, at worst it could be very costly

I wouild always get a custom fitting from a specialist supplier every time. Results will always be more rewarding and it's more fun too

I hear what your saying!!

So I take it you have had a remap and are still getting torque when the engine is below 2000?
Is it instant, or when do you feel it kicking in?

Hi

No, I am getting torque at the upper limit of 2nd gear, when the revs are up which is when I wanted it.

what I woudl say is get it mapped at a centre with rolling road, dont do it over the net - this way they will get it right first time or tweak it whilst you are there.
