golfdeeko,

If you paid for the B&O as a factory fit option and have the speakers but no sign of the setup in the MMI, then you really ought to get back to your dealer and get them to sort it out - sounds like a software issue within the MMI and shouldn't be too hard to sort out.

Do you get any of the settings? Surround level etc.?

B&O is absolutely awesome, but I've only had a very quick listen to a non-B&O car, and it was also pretty good. I had Bose in my old S4 and the B&O is definitely much better.
Sorry to disappoint you all with B&O system and no navigation, but this was the information I got from B&O. The good thing is that B&O claims that the sound performance is exactly the same in both systems, it is just the menu that is a bit different. So, the only setting available for us without the navigation is to turn on or off the DSP premium, i.e. the B&O surround sound. I have confirmed this on other cars without the navigation system as well.

Another thing that perhaps not all are familiar with is that the surround is only available when listening to CD or SD-card, i.e. it isn’t available when listening to radio. The reason for this I don’t know and I don’t really see the point of this difference.
Also works with the iPod through the AMI - really noticeable difference using the surround as well, as does changing the focus between "Driver", "Front" and "All". Personally I prefer the "All" setting rather than "Driver" or "Front", but guess it's a personal thing.

Had a listen to my favourite hi-fi testing track, a little-known track by Crowded House titled "Not The Girl You Think You Are" - fantastic track to check just how well a hi-fi can reproduce the sound-stage, and the B&O system is easily the best I've ever heard in a car, and far superior to the Bose in my old S4.
Ever hear "Climbatize" by The Prodigy? That'll test a system!
Anyone else got specific tracks that they think really "show off" or "test" their sound systems?

My particular favourite (and has been for some time) is one of Crowded House's lesser know tracks entitled "Not The Girl You Think You Are" - excellent sound-stage, which with a really top stereo allows you to specifically place the individual instruments and even hear individual instruments outside of the position of stereo speakers. Doesn't really work quite so well in a multi-speaker setup in a car, but still very impressive and a very 'rich' sound.

Maybe this should be a whole new thread entitled "Favourite Driving/Testing Music" or something like that...
