Is the ECU and Software version information avaliable on the menu in the MMI and will it tell you the exact verion codes? If not, does anybody know if there is a secret way to get into diagnostic mode of the MMI to determine such info?

It used to be, but the recent software versions have removed this from a non-hacked menu.

The diagnostic menu can be enabled with a vag-com. Try a search.
