Huge acceleration delay? 21 A5 Sportback

I recently purchased a 2021 A5 Sportback s line 45 premium plus (4K miles) and have been confused as to whether what I am experiencing is normal with its acceleration? Read a few posts from years back describing the acceleration to have a more than noticeable lag, which can even be claimed as “dangerous” in some cases, to which I would agree. From a standstill, it seems this car simply does not “go” when engaging the gas pedal. Been researching for a full week and have seen this described as turbo lag, or just a downside of the dual clutch s tronic trans. I’ve noticed that pausing a bit before engaging gas off of the brake helps a bit, so it could be timing on driving habits and that’s just “how this trans works” but would love to hear feedback from anyone experiencing this. I also feel a pretty large discomfort and jutter motion in the early gears in stop and go situations. PLEASE HELP me understand if this is just normal? And I should I’ve done more research before a 50k purchase?? Brought it to Audi already and of course, no issues on diagnostic.

My 2010 S-Tronic car is the same, the delay is only about half a second, but it feels much longer when you're pulling out into a gap! I've learned to drive around it, I gently touch the accelerator half a second before I need to go just to 'wake it up'.

I think it's just the car engaging the clutch slowly so you pull away smoothly, imagine if you were doing the same in a manual car.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s pretty disappointing honestly. I had a 430i which gave me much more response off a dead stop and I rely on that to a degree for getting in and out of tight spaces in stop and go traffic (I’m outside of Miami). Ive also gotten the “break in theory” to allow the car time to get used to your drive, but if you’re in a 2010 and still notice this, I’m assuming that is somewhat dispelled.

I just bought a 2022 A5 45 premium plus, no S line. I drove an Infiniti before that with 300hp and I notice the same. One thing I always turn off is that automatic engine shutdown when the car stops at a light. That helps a little bit. I only got my A5 two weeks ago so still getting used to it. But try that. It’s that button under AC controls. You have to manually turn it off every time you start the car. Lmk if that helps.

Tried that the first week, didn’t seem to make much of a difference. The A5 start stop isnt as noticeable as other vehicles (I’m coming out of a 18 bmw 430i). I will say using the sport mode from the gear shifter helps the takeoff no matter what drive select mode you’re in. Guess it’s just something to get used to, at this point? I’ve seen the same feedback from quite a few. Thanks for yours as well.
