HTC Desire HD Phonebook

I wonder if anybody else has a HTC Desire HD (Android) and is having problems loading the phonebook via bluetooth??

I previously had a Samsung Omnia (Windows Mobile) and generally had no problem with the phonebook loading every time I switched on bluetooth (except for a couple of times when I had to clear out the "Missed Calls" on my phone to make space for the data transfer).

With the HTC Desire HD, I have never been able to have my phonebook load up. The only options that light up on the car's menu are "Dialled Numbers" and "Mailbox". Has any body else had this problem? Is there a solution?

Also, in the "Dialled Numbers" menu, my phonebook names are always displayed in reverse, i.e. "Smith, John". No matter what settings I change, I can't fix it. Again, is there a solution to this?

Many thanks for your collective help!

I have htc desire, not the hd version. My phone book loads fine. The names are surname first though but it is as they are shown on the phone.
I have a wildfire, essentially the same as a desire but lower res screen and slower CPU.
As Therock states no issues but my names also displayed surname first despite phone being other way round!
There is a setting in the MMI to import contact, not sure if I had to do this first time, might be worth a try!
I have the HTC Desire Z, no problem importing the phonebook. What you might want to do is open PEOPLE, press MENU then VIEW. Here at the top you will see options to sort contact list by last name or first name and view contact name as last name first or first name first. Once selecting don't forget to press DONE or it won't accept your selection, pressing BACK means it discards the changes

The issue here is that the phone book is set up in a particular manner. The names are displayed on the phone according to how you have set the phone up, ie, first names first but exporting the phone book means the names will be sent out as they are stored. So if you selected to show first name first, the phone will SHOW the first name first but the list will be still sorted Last name first. AFAIK you will need to select SORT CONTACT LIST as first name first to export it correctly....
i have a desire hd it also displays backwards in 2010 3g system, phonebook loads perfect every time though
Has anyone on here with an HTC (android) had issues with it not displaying contacts and then resolved it? Ive never been able to get the phone contacts to synch with the MMI. It only stores numbers locally (on the MMI) and if one of my contacts rings while Im paired with the MMI then it displays the number only (no name) as it doesnt recognise the number.

Ive seen previous threads on here about it but just dismissed it after people claimed that generally smart phones wont pair correctly - something to do with remote SIM access....?
The HTC Desires are not completely `flawless` yet with BT.

Read some of my earlier posts about this here.

So very important you DENY access to your phonebook and then it works! Strange but true.
I gave up. I have a company HTC but the B* thing is not the best IMHO. If pressed I divert to my personal BB Curve which works perfectly. HTC may be cheap but so are Nissan Micras!!!

Cheers

I have an HTC Legend but its the same OS so assume it should be same as Desire. Im a bit confused when people say theyve search for a phone via their MMI - I can only find a way of searching from my phone (not from the MMI).?

Hi NBK,

I have exactly the same issue, did you ever get it sorted?

I will try the work around/bug mentioned below of denying access to the phonebook to see if that works.
