When do these actually come out and spray the headlamps? I know it's difficult to say as you're in the car when you squirt the windscreen but the other day I squirted my windscreen and it certainly didn't look like my headlamps had been cleaned too as there was no residue or watermarks around them? Just curious on how these things work?

turn on the lights, then wash the windscreen for 3 seconds. you should see some spray coming over the bonnet

Slight addition to Vins comments. Its every 1 in 3 washes when your headlamps are on. It doesnt wash them with the headlamps off.

I find on mine that it doesnt require 3 seconds of hold. You can tell when it washes them by the strength of the beam being reduced by the water over the glass.
