I have a 2014 a5 cab s line with xeon headlights drivers side headlamp not working.
I have tried to remove the unit but can't get it out it appears that it does not come out. Is there a trick to it as I realy don't want to take it to a main dealer garage to get the ballast replaced.

Once it's out remove the rear panel by releasing the wire clip and then twist the bulb locking mechanism to release the bulb- don't touch the bulb when you replace it.

Saw that video my headlights are different thay have a round rubber covering at the rear not the same clip I just can't wiggle the unit out also most appears cross member needs removing.

Looking at the video above there is a bar that goes full width of the front above the lights can this be loosened and lifted at one end as I only need a few mm of extra clearance..

One you get the hold down bolts loose, you do have to twist and pull at the right angle. Putting it back it can be a frustrating if you do not the get the angle right. On the 8.5 careful of the fender (ok wing) where it come down to a point over the light.. You can easily put a scratch on the lens. Loosen end bolt holding the fender on and you can move the fender out a little for a little room for the light.

Should just be four torx screws (you have to remove the radiator trim piece as well). The headlight doesn't just pull straight out, you do have to wriggle it a bit, same going back in (oo-er matron...). Bale arm clip holds the bulb cover in place.
