Has anyone sussed out hy sometimes when you press the accelerator the handbrake releases and other times you get a message on the computer saying "Please release handbrake". Its really annoying and I can't seem to see any pattern. I just have the normal brake - no hill-hold or anything extra.

I'm sure it happened when I've been pulled up and put the handbreak on due to hilll mid journey but I'm willing to be proved wrong. Will check it out the next few times it happens.

That's all very odd. I know mine words as intended, i.e. it auto-releases witht he seatbelt buckled, does not otherwise. I wonder why yours is erratic. Maybe a malfunctioning seatbelt sensor? Are you getting chimed at randomly?
Seatbelt sensor seems fine with respect warning light and chimes - starting to get worries I have something wrong now:confused:

Was expecting a simple link that I had not thought of. Originally I thought if you engaged the break in Park it auto released but if you engaged in Drive or Neutral it didn't although I can't seem to make that logictic stick. My car is an automatic - just in case that has a bearing - any other 2.7TDI guys had similar.
