For those with Aftermarket Exhaust

I love how quiet the car is when I am cruising, but when I am driving with the windows down, the sound is not that what I had hoped. Do you find your aftermarket exhausts increasing the volume in the interior, or did just add rumble that is noticed when outside the car? Thanks.

When I had a 4cyl car back in the day I put a stillen on it and regretted it forever. It was so loud, it made long highway drives painful. I am hoping it is not the case with this car.

The Milltek increases your exterior volume and bass rumble while keeping the cabin quiet. Even after hearing the latest exhaust offerings, I still would choose Milltek....
I'll let you know when I get the GMG system fitted.
I too am probably going with the miltek because IMO its note is really good, but not "noisy".
It's noise vs power - the more noise, the more power. deal with it as you please
@UpstateS5: I know what you mean. Though this is true, I didn't just by the car for performance, but man, I know it can sound so much nastier...
I have heard both the resonated and the non resonated versions of the Milltek "in person" and I left scratching my head. Both do not justify any reason in my opinion to upgrade your exhaust. Barely tell the difference over stock. I am still debating on the GMG or AWE with or without the downpipes. I can tell you if it doesn't have an audible difference its going on ebay!!

+1 ... Speaking for myself, I personally notice a dramatic difference, plus you can generally realize a decent increase in power.

You need a hearing aid my friend.....

Here's the difference in sound VERY CLEARLY on my own car before and after fitting, recorded with the same equipment on the same day with all the same settings:

BTW... Milltek do not do a non-resonated version for the S5 yet, so I can't see how you can comment on that one.

Finally, to answer the original question:

The Milltek does make the cabin noise more noticeable, which is great! When driven with the windows down it's just awesome! :D However whilst it is quiet-ish when cruising it's not silent. Below 2K revs it does 'boom' too. Unfortunately you can't have it all!
Maybe the person didn't know what they were talking about when they said theirs was non resonated. Thats probably why I thought they sounded the same!!! This guy stopped one day by my store to show me his car I never met him before.

That would make more sense, but both the res and non-res sound different than stock...maybe he wasn't revving enough to hear it properly...I guess we'll never know.
@SAJ_1982: Any updates on your GMG exhaust, can't wait to see it on the car. :)

thanks
If I recall they were'nt being shipped from the US untill the 20th May, so unless there is another update, i guess he's still waiting for shipping. Im with you though LittleDevil, I loved the sound of the RS4 gmg kit, and the crappy youtube video of the s5 gmg looks promising. Can't wait for some nice high quality recordings. I hope you know a sound enginneer SAJ :)

Just revving isn't enough. You have to hear the exhaust under load while down-shifting to really hear the difference.
I have to agree with Sizzle. I drove his car today, and I am considering the Milltek, there is a pretty big difference between the way it sounds parked and the way it sounds when driving (and especially down shifting). Thanks again Sizzle (for the fix)! I should be okay without my car for at least 10 minutes!!!

No problem at all man, and i'm glad you enjoyed it!!!

Gotta agree with this... it bellows onder load. revving makes a difference, but nothing like when driven... even moderately gently. The overrun sound is awesome too!
I don't know guys I drove in both of these cars. Maybe you notice it a bit more when you get used to it. I am going to order the GMG this Week .Im first going to get it without the downpipes but if it isn't noticable I will get thm shortly after. I hope the GMG will be more aggressive sounding then the milltek.
