Did you buy your car new? I have just had Audi fit (via a towbar company) genuine new Audi removable towbar. Audi have fitted FREE the two fan cooling system. I have kept all the old bits too. Cost to me = ÂŁ480+VAT.

PM me for contact details...:moped:
Hi, i am new to this site. I have just bought an ex demo car and am looking to fit a towbar to fit a bike rack too. do you have any more detail on the fitting of the cooling fan from Audi? It does say in the handbook that modifications may need to be made to the cooling system so am intrigued that you got them to fit the fans!

Not sure about your it's the dogs sig.... if you ain't got Quattro Audis are second best IMHO!!! ;-0 (NEXT TIME MAYBE!!??)
Thanks for the info, ive heard that you may get an error once electrics are connected so will ask at Audi.

ps..It's the dogs compared to the reliant robin i traded in for it!!:laughinatabove: haha actually a 525 m sport!

I've had boot mounted racks in the past and its a pain if you need to be in the boot for any reason when the bike rack is loaded!!

I have yet to see any pictures of a towbar fitted but without the tow hitch fitted to see if the cut out is noticable. Does anyone hve any???

I wired mine myself using the OEM westfalia kit which is about ÂŁ130.

Many Audi's are now pre wired for towing, definitely all S-Line, so it's just a case of locating the plug in the boot, plugging that into the trailer control unit and then plugging the trailer socket wiring loom into the trailer control unit. The coding can be either done with VCDS or by an Audi Centre.
Thanks for the info. i have seen the westfalia towbar for about ÂŁ170 online. may need a bypass relay by all accounts! do you know where the plug is in the boot? might have a look tomorrow.

I guess if i only intend putting a cycle carrier or at most a motor bike trailer then a 7 pin socket would be suitable!!

If you look in the right hand side of the boot, behind the panel you're looking for a red plug wrapped in foam up near the wheel arch.
is this plug readilly visable or is it tucked away somewhere? do you have any pictures of it? I have quickly looked today but didnt see anything?

I googled a couple of images for you. It's the red plug as shown here -

Thanks, ill have another look. Wonder if it's a little different on the cabriolet?

It's most likely wrapped in foam but you can normally see the end of it.
Stu,

have come to the conclusion my car isn't pre wired for tow bar electrics:thumbsdown: There is nothing wrapped in foam and according to westfalia instructions there should also be equipment rack 8K0 907 297!
Might check with Audi dealer next week.
