Finally getting the AWE exhaust + downpipes today

Well those of you that have been following the GMG thread know that I ended up cancelling them for AWE due to the amount they had been messing me about since April.

Well the AWE exhaust and downpipes arrived the other week there but I just never got around to getting them fitted (been too busy going up and down the country....oh the life of the lone consultant). Anyway, the car has been booked in today, so hopefully it will be on by mid afternoon.

Will take pictures and videos - not that they are really needed as AWE did a decent video and have good pics on their website.

Just a little update, took the exhaust tips out of their packing to discover that AWE have sent me the diamond black tips. Look great and I prefer them to the normal tips - so that was a nice surprise.

Pics from AWE below.

Looking good.

Look forward to your review.....
Unleash the beast that is the S5 V8

Amazing, simply amazing. This system is F'in LOUD!!!! Louder than a non-resonated Milltek RS4 Exhaust - quote from my mate who has the Milltek on his RS4 - "It blows it away"

Quotes from a few other mates "It's so ridiculously loud, it's actually amazing", "F*** Me!"

I'd have got opinions from the grannies that were walking up the main street, however after passing them, most seemed to have had heart failure.:D

All I can say is that it turns the S5 from being a frightened little pussy cat into a raging Lion from the depths of hell.

I'll give a proper review tomorrow - All I can say is don't take the videos of this system as anything close to how it is in real life. The videos do no justice what so ever to it. It is 100 times better.

Thanks GMG if it wasn't for you i'd never have got this system :p

:D X a million <---- me

You sound dissapointed......:p

Yeah, videos don't do it justice at all. Did the butt dyno give you a report yet??
Congrats Saj... Sounds cool.

Whats the actual cabin noise like after the install? compared to the factory one?

Well any time your are moving at a constant speed e.g when the cruise control is on, the exhaust quietens right down to being hardly noticeable. It's only under any sort of acceleration that it starts to growl. Even under hard acceleration for me anyway it's fine.

For those that don't want it quite so loud, just don't buy the downpipes and I think you will get a good quality sound which is much better than stock and it won't be overly loud.

The system is loud though and under any sort of mid to hard pushing of the throttle it's just LOL Bonkers :D.
congrats SAJ. Downpipes really make the difference in overall volume. Both the milltek systems I have heard seemed extremely stock sounding and quiet,I don't care what anyone says,I have heard both inside car under acceleration and outside. THE GMG and AWE systems naturally have more volume, but once he downpipes are added it becomes very loud. ENJOY

??
SAJ, you're a nutter! ;)

Sounds fun! Does it set off car alarms when you give it beans past parked cars? :D

Do you think the awe system is louder than the non-res milltek? i've been going back and forth between the two and i can't decide. i want loud, inside and out:p

speaking of which, check out the new capristo system for the S5! amazing!

Without a doubt it will be louder. White08S5 has confirmed that this is the case. See his reply on this thread.

Just make sure if you get the downpipes...makes all the difference.
Does the car feel faster????

I had the non-res Milltek and added the AWE downpipes and it is a world of difference adding the downpipes to any system. Check out this video, but the sound just isn't done any justice....

thanks guys!
Nice one SAJ,pleased you are happy after your long wait :)

Sorry mate, the sound of the exhaust must be causing me brain damage, bit slow these days :D.

Yes it does a little, it just seems to pull that bit better now especially at the top end where it use to feel as though it was running out of puff. I've also found myself changing gear earlier too just from the feel.

It's not a massive difference but it is definetly noticeable. I took my younger brother out for a spin this morning and the second comment he made (1st being the sound) was that it felt faster to him.

Yep give you full back up on that one, if it sounds alright in the video it will sound even better in the real world.

Check this video of a Milltek on the V10 S8, I can only imagine how good this will sound for real. http://www.millteksport.com/media.file.cfm?fileid=531
How much is the new capristo system? Has anyone had it put on an S5 in the UK?
