Extended Warranty

I just financed the car today but i was thinking about getting the extended warrenty on the car which is 6yr/100,000 miles for $2700.00.
I figure to put about 15,000 to 20,000/year on the car so I thought it might be worth it.
Also does anyone have a VAG-COM in the Boston area? How about near Staten Island, NY or Freehold, NJ

Thanks

If you don't get any replies here for VAG-COM, try searching for folks using this: http://www.vagcomlocator.com
That's absurd .... for an extended warranty?

Wow! $2700 for an extended warranty through Audi?

I can only say that the last two extended warranties I bought 1) for a loaded Toyota 4Runner Limited and the 2) for a Infiniti G37 Coupe only ran me $900 and $1100 respectively. Same terms too: 6 year or 100,000 miles.

What justifies Audi's price?
Thanks for the website TXcarguy...

Gtlexec....true the cost is expensive but I figure it's still better than paying for service once the warrenty is expired. See my warrenty will likely be void after 2.5 years.

The other upside is that I can transfer the warrenty to the seller for 75 bucks thus a huge bonus and selling point( that's if I sell it )
Try to negotiate the extended warranty...

I totally understand your need for an extended warranty.

I'm just shocked at the cost of it on an Audi. Heck it's even more than my sister-in-law's extended warranty on her E-Class Mercedes!

BTW - I negotiated both of my extended warranties down in price. One I got for $400 less and the other for $500 less.

Try doing the same with Audi. Shop it around; different dealers. Offer them $2K for the extended warranty and see what they say.

Good luck!

Bevo,

Which dealership did you use? I'm also in the Boston area.

On both of my Audi's and a BMW X5 the price was near this. $2400 for my old TT through Warranty Direct (on-line and VERY good), over $3000 through the dealership on the BMW (dumb, as I did research after that) and had i done it for the RS6 I have now it would be at least $2700. These cars are more expensive to repair than Toyota's etc so the amount is up there. $2400 is the best I've done (it was more through Audi if i had gone that route). However it was worth it...it was used for two rather sizable fixes near the cost of the warranty then when i got rid of the car I was refunded a time prorated amount for it...so i got back $1800 but certainly used waaaay more than that. I would suggest checking out warrantydirect.com as it is great coverage and is less than the dealer policies.
So I finally picked up my car yesterday.....
Final sale: 6yr/100,000 warranty for 2500.00

He took off 200 dollars.
Let me get this straight......you are complaining about paying $2,500 for a 6 year warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BMW wanted £1,500 (about $4,600) for ONE year's extended warranty on my 840Ci.

Get real and stop complaining - its a bargain
