I think the damage you do to your car is gonna be more than what it's worth if you decide to molest the stock exhaust.

Wait and save up the money for a proper mod to your fine car.

You can install either GMG or AWE downpipes. These will remove 2 small resonators which are on the stock downpipes. This will give you a nice increase in sound for about $400 - $500. The good thing is you can always replace the stock ones back on the car should you find the car is too loud when you do decide to put an upgraded exhaust on.

thank you very much for the feedback im gonna look into installing a GMG or AWE downpipe.
just wondering if anyone has an idea or a video of what that would sound like though installing one of those downpipes would it be a significant difference? and my car is a lease so its not a problem to get it back to stock before i return it right.

anyone know if these will fit an A5? and instead of getting AWE, or GMG downpipes, is it possible to get a exhaust specialist to simply remove the resonators???

You will have no issues returning it to stock when your done. No videos that I know of that has just downpipes installed on a stock system, but it will without a doubt make a difference.

I don't believe these will fit the A5 as the S5 system is very different. But you could easily get an exhaust specialist to make you downpipes to replace your existing ones. You could have the resonators removed without too much trouble but then your cuttings up your stock system - if you have no issues with that and have no intentions of going back to stock in future then you should be fine.

If the GMG or AWE downpipes don't fit the A5 do you guys know of any existing downpipes from another company that would fit and that you recommend?
And if there isn't sorry if this is a newb question I'm not the best with cars but what you're saying you can just take into a good body shop and tell them you wanna get downpipes installed in your car and their exhaust specialist or someone will make them for you and then you just go back when you're done and return it to stock?

And the other thing like swedie said I don't wanna damage and molest my exhaust I wanna keep that classy sound and not sound like a rice street racer honda but I do want a little more tone and noise so this is the right way to go?

It's hard to tell what the results of just downpipes would be as I don't know of anyone who has done it yet. I am aware that stasis do an exhaust for the A5 but not downpipes (correct me if i'm wrong anyone).

An exhaust shop that makes exhausts not just installs them would just have to remove your existing downpipes and make you a pipe to the same spec by copying it minus the resonators and you would be done.

In saying all this, i'm not sure what the A5s downpipes are like, i'd assume they do have a resonator on them because the S5 did, but then maybe someone else could confirm this?
