Had my car into the dealer yesterday to fix a rattling sound from the exhaust. Apparently they did a software update which should fix it . Not sure how software can fix noises in exhausts.
Also I had a fluttering sound from the vent at the top of the dash which sounds like a leaf is catching the fan. Dealer reckons its a dash out job but doesn't recommend it as they say it will probably cause more creaks and rattles when its refitted. and lastly they still haven't fixed the vibrating subwoofer although they did say that they have come across the problem a few times and have now raised a DIS ????? with Audi. The service guy reckons that the sub has too much bass/power for the rear shelf to cope thus causing vibrations. Lucky I didnt go for the B&O as it would have probably blown the rear window out

Haha so did the software update fix it? Did they give any details into this update? when was it released? The only rattle I get is if you rev it stationary, but thats just crappy 1.8 engine which sounds like a mouse coughing down a metal tube.

I've started to get some creaks in my dash which is really annoying me, I usually just push hard on areas and it goes for a few days.

I've got no issues at all with the sub, maybe take it to a local car audio specialist and have them look at it, when I went in asking for an ipod adapter for the concert radio Audi actually told me that your best going to Norwich In Car Entertainment (NICE) as they managed to do something for a customers A4 B8.

I wonder if "software update" actually means "hit it with a hammer" on this occasion! Of course, they could never admit that to you!

Apparently its something to do with the exhaust gas recirculation valve.
Don't know if its fixed yet as the sound of frozen slush on my road kind of drowns out any other noise

I think that might be my best option if not the only option.
Do you reckon Audi will pay for it if an independant fixes it :rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D:D:D:D

Just noticed on the report from my dealer that the software update was 27C5.

So Speary, did the fix make the sound go? I would be interested to know before I make the call. Thanx for sharing the update code btw!

The noise has mostly gone but I think that is because they tightend and adjusted stuff under the car rather than a software upgrade.
i just cant see how electronics can cure what was a rattling sound from the rear of the car.
Still. I could be wrong
