Hi

I've just noticed that the DRL's dim when I indicate. Is this normal? Also had to book it in as I noticed a rattle coming from around the instrument area, sounds like a CD rattling against the plastic but it's not that as I have no CD's in the car. I only noticed this when I turned the stereo down. Has anybody else experienced this?

Yes, that is normal operation. There's actually a very lengthy thread on this topic that I started back in October of last year. For US spec cars, the DRLs turn off completely while the turn indicator is on. And for most Euro spec cars, the DRLs dim while the turn indicator is on.

You can read all about it here.

Thanks for the info, should have checked before posting thread.

You'll also find the DRLs dim when you (or the light sensor) switch to use them as side lights.

I can't quite get my head around this one ... it's seems to be counter-intuitive that the external lights will dim as it gets darker.

The idea is that they need to be brighter to hold their own in daylight, but at night, they lower themselves to a still-visible but not dazzling level.

Not counter-intuitive at all, if you think about the the other way around =P
